High temp and a cough

Hey mums my little one is coming up to 6 months and has got a temp of 38.1°c and a cough. He’s just got back from staying at his nannas and she has 5 kids at hers the youngest being 3 I’ve gave him calpol to try bring the temp and and it has until he sleeps then it goes up again. I’ve booked a doctors appointment but I’m tempted to call 111 no emergency. My partner doesn’t as “all kids get ill and he’ll be fine by the end is the day” what should I do
