After a long read online and loads of bad reviews about Queen Elizabeth Hospital, I decided to go ahead with Lewisham Hospital instead and I’ve been really disappointed so far.
My midwife appointments are at Lee Health Centre. I haven’t seen the same person twice; my appointment today was 30min late and then I was rushed through feeling uncomfortable to ask any questions. For my 20 week scan in Lewisham hospital one of screens was broken so I ended up not seeing anything myself and the person doing the scan was quiet, made me feel uncomfortable because baby was not cooperating so he was losing patience trying to see details.
Is this a normal experience on NHS or am I unlucky? Would I be better off switching hospitals? I’m on week 24 so have time to reconsider. What would you recommend? I’m based around Blackheath village and we have a car so we are able to travel further out as well..as long as I feel like I do have some more support as currently it just feels rough.

Lewisham is a nightmare…..

Hi Eliza, sorry to hear your experience hasn’t been great with antenatal care so far - it’s quite a common theme across most of our local hospitals unfortunately. I’m a local Hypnobirthing teacher and fortunately most of my clients experience great care during labour itself - for example take a look at this recent birth story from Lewisham birth centre: https://www.riseandglowbirths.com/blog/lewisham-hypnobirthing-birth-story
