Baby name: Cain vs. Kane

My husband and I are really wanting to name our child Cain. However, came across a post saying “why would you do that to your child?” And then other people were commenting that you could spell it differently such as “Kane” instead of “Cain” like the biblical character…
But even if I were to spell it differently, would people still only think of the Bible and the story of Cain and Abel?

I’m personally not religious, just wanted to get an opinion on what other people think. I’m assuming majority would say Cain is a no-go.

I think of Kane Brown. Amazing Country artist!

I think spelling it either way is fine. But biblically yes Cain did kill his brother Able and afterwards God did banish him but kept him protected so no one could hurt him🤷‍♀️

A friend of mine did name her baby jezebel. I just can’t stop thinking about the biblical meaning and I do my best lol this is pretty similar to me lol but you can’t control what others think. If you like it and your husband likes it the. Do it. But also think about the kid going to school and probably be somewhat teased for it.

I like the spelling Kane better! Spelling Cain reminds me too much of pain

Kane! Definitely Kane. I think people might still associate with the Bible story, but ultimately I think you should go with it because you love it! I think Kane is a cuter spelling and pushes it further from the Bible story.

Yeah Christian here, Cain is a great name but the association is strong and I would not want to vex my child with such a label. Cain invented murder. Trust your gut but I'd do the different spelling or save it for a middle name

I personally feel your likeness for a name is one thing, protecting your child from bullies is another !
