Any lactation consultants that can answer my question?? I don’t want advice from anyone who isn’t certified as a lactation consultant! (Sorry I just need advice from a trained professional!!) I am currently 10 months postpartum, and almost 6 weeks pregnant. I stopped breastfeeding and pumping at 3-4 months postpartum due to medication I was on and baby couldn’t drink the milk! I’m starting to get full of milk again (it never fully dried up and I would have small leaks sometimes while I haven’t been pumping or anything. But now I can feel the milk coming back and I leak more often. My question is, is it safe to start pumping again to get my supply back? I know it’s safe to keep pumping and stuff while pregnant if you’ve been doing it but I’m not sure if you are able to start again when you’ve stopped for some months! I would like to add I am NOT on the medication anymore that wasn’t safe for breastfeeding/pumping so the milk would be safe to drink!

I know I’m not certified but I’ve seen woman who have stopped for years and then started pumping to get a supply up for woman who couldn’t breastfeed it’s crazy what our bodies can do. Hope that helps🫶🏼
I just know people talk about pumping and such can lead to premature labor and I’m terrified of hurting the baby!

Oh yeah, that I’ve heard. Call your OB they might be able to connect you to a lactation specialist for questions!
