My son is turning 6 this year and I’m contemplating getting him one for his birthday.

In my experience my mom got one for my sister as a reward for good grades and regulated how long she would play and didn’t have YouTube on it

My husband got one when we went on holiday last year, so it’s not his but he used it. He’s now 4.5 and only really plays Mario kart on it.

We’ve had one for a few years and this year my 3 year old has started playing it, but we do have to limit the time because he would sit on it all day if he could. If we didn’t already have one though I’d probably be waiting until around 6/7 maybe

My 7 yr old has one. It’s like any other game system. And children profiles can always be limited

Just monitor his usage!! There are so many studies coming out linking screen time to poor eyesight and poor behavior!

My 5 year old just started using our switch. Taught him Mario Kart first. He now loves Minecraft.

Up to this point I’ve been pretty strict about screen time. He’s never played video games before, and I’ve intentionally never had a tablet for him. He’ll watch TV, but really it’s like 1-2 (20-30 min) episodes a day. He’ll play PBS Kids games on the computer (so rarely, like not even weekly), but I don’t own any game system. He/ we’ve just been so good about holding off on it, but he has been curious about it and knows about the games from other kids. I agree with it being monitored and only allowing limited usage.
