Im a bit confused. I recently found out that a friend of mine had this dog out at the back of her house ( it's not a garden just concrete) he was left at her house by someone else back in December and they never came back to collect him. She has two dogs and they dont get along with this new dog/puppy.
I have been torn in wanting to bring it home with me. He's not the nicest looking dog so I know it would be harder for him to get adopted to a good home so I feel like I want to bring him home and give him the love and safe space he needs
However I have a 2.5 year old toddler. My partner isn't really keen on a dog we live in a small 2 bed apartment.
However this puppy is a small dog a yorkie and jack russel mix.
I know a dog can be hard work initially but so are kids 😅
I'm just not sure whether I'm being completely ridiculous in wanting to bring the dog home. He is very friendly and probably needs training as he hasn't had any attention
Please help me 🥹🥲

We have a rescue dog and a toddler. It is hard work! You just need to be honest with yourself about how much time you have to deal with a dog that will need a lot of attention from you. Also teaching your toddler how to interact with a rescue to give them space and read there queues. We are now at a good place with ours but it’s taken a long time and a lot of energy.
Also simple things like taking it for a walk each day when your toddler is adamant they won’t go… those battles get tiring very quickly!
BUT having a dog to grow up with a kid is magical and teaches them lots of life lessons!

We have one also, its hard work. I also have a 4 month old. Just need to think if its definitely someone you both want, as its a joint effort x

I have a dog and toddler. I honestly find the dog harder work than my toddler 🙃.I think the breed is important and the age of the dog. Our toddler adores the dog now, although the dog can get jealous on occasion. You have to keep a very close eye on them most of the time.

I have a toddler and 2 dogs. All good over here! My little one loves them and they adore him too
Thank you so much for all your responses ❤️
He's not the cutest but i think that's why I want to give him a home he doesn't deserve to be put into the ground or left outside by himself 😔

You would have to put in a lot of time and effort into training the dog, especially since he wasn’t trained before and bad behaviors are hard to break. Being in a small home with a toddler and dog is challenging. I wouldn’t recommend it. We also have a toddler and a dog and we have to keep them separated.
