Toddler kissing too much

Ladies am I overthinking? My daughter goes to daycare where this other girl also goes. She is two months older than my daughter and both are under 2. So they are still small. Whenever I take my daughter to play with her she gets super excited and can’t contain her emotions which is sweet. But then while playing she will every now and then kiss my daughter, kind of in a forced way, and sometimes also hugs forcefully and my daughter just stands there and does nothing.
Is this ok? Am I thinking too much? What should I say next time. They look fine otherwise, playing and laughing. But this thing is very weird and I don’t like it.

This seems very normal however staff should be discouraging kissing and encouraging gentle hugs instead. If they were school age I’d be worried about headlice!

thankyou that makes me feel so much better. You’re right they are still under 2 so it’s probably just her showing affection. We do try to stop every now and then when on play dates but I will definitely speak to the daycare staff just in case they notice it there and ask them to intervene.

Could be a good opportunity to start teaching consent…not sure verbal your LO is, but they often understand more than they say. I’d prob say something along the lines of, please ask before giving a hug and hug gently to the other kid, then to your daughter say, do you want to be hugged? You can say yes or no! It’s your body!

At that age it’s all modelling and redirecting

My son went through a phase of forcefully hugging his friends at this age. We just had to keep saying to him ‘you must ask your friends if they want a hug first’ it took a while for him to get it. Can you ask your nursery to say this to the girl?

Thankyou ladies your replies are super helpful and supportive. Gives me lot of pointers on how to handle this going forward. I will talk to daycare staff as well and next time I’ll be well prepared for play dates if it happens again.
