Our youngest is 1, we both work, and I have a 12 year old as well, we are very into routine at home! Our 1 year old goes to bed at 6, we are never out of the house after 5pm with him, as it’s the time we start winding down for bed!
Our family have constant whines and twists about this rule and always make us feel like overbearing parents when we won’t allow a one off for a family party etc but we know how awful it is if his routine is disturbed! It goes on for DAYYYYS and it’s us that has to deal with it and go to work the next day!
Is anyone else this strict with bedtime routine???

We are not strict at all. However, we have some kind of weird unicorn baby who will sleep whenever she feels like it, regardless of where she is.
But if it was the opposite id happily miss out on stuff, I find meals out and parties and stuff difficult enough without the whole routine aspect because babies just take so much time and attention and its not fun having to run around keeping your baby out of danger while everyone else has a great time

We have a strict evening routine and stick to it as much as possible. These some times something that might upset the routine but we only suffer for 1 day with it so can be a little lenient with it all. If you know you'll be suffering for weeks from a 1 night past bed time I wouldn't bother. If family are annoyed just leave them to it. As baby gets older you'll be able to stay later and you're bedtime routine will adjust and change but for now do what's best for your family

We don’t have a strict bedtime but that is more my sons choice than ours 😅 I think if he thrived off that kind of routine and I suffered the consequences if he didn’t have that routine, then I would be all in and do the same as you, but it’s his world and we’re just living in it 😆

We've had strict routines before but this kid just doesn't sleep so we've given up with a routine as it doesn't make a blind jot of difference. We've just got in from the local music festival so heading to bed in a mo. I'd rather relax and enjoy the evening than pander to him and still sleep shit anyway 😄

Bed time is always between 6 and 7. If we’re going out for the evening I just bring her pj’s, blanket and something for her white noise and she’ll sleep happily in her buggy then just transfer when home. But I don’t mind if she doesn’t sleep when out because it never effects the next day

Ahhhh see our son will wake up if we were to transfer him to the house from the car! And once he’s awake that’s it! He also still wakes up during the night so it’s not like I get a full nights sleep! So we cling to routine as much as possible as we’re in bed for like 8-9pm latest as we get up at 4:30/5am for work!! So I guess we NEED the routine really xx

Nope not at all. It might talk a bit of time to settle down again but we’d miss out on so much and have so much stress trying to get home if we did

To be honest it works in our favour as we don’t like to be out late, and it’s a perfect excuse 😂😂 we love to be at home in our little family bubble 🤍
