My 3 month old son has had real bad acid reflux for about a month. He spits up after every feeding at least and ounce. When I took him to the doctor they told me to take him down an ounce s
And gave him acid reflux medication. Unfortunately because he is spitting up so much he’s not getting the nutrients he needs and not gaining weight like he should. I don’t know what to do at this point I feel like I’m failing as a mother. Where there ways i could have prevented this of was it something i did?

My baby girl has reflux too, and what’s really helped is burping her after each ounce! Also, pay attention to their feeding cues, but if your son is anything like my daughter, he might be over eating and therefore spitting up. I tend to do more feedings and less milk, so it stays down!

I’m in the same boat. My daughter has bad acid reflux. It’s making it impossible to go anywhere without extra clothes for her and me.
All I can do is just wait. Our doctor said it should decrease getting closer to 6 months when solids are introduced

Are you breast feeding or formula? If the latter, have you tried any different brands?

you should get some Muslim bibs! It typically catches most of the spit up then I just use a burp cloth to wipe it off the bib. It helps save her outfits lol

That’s what the pediatrician said about his weight? Is he dropping percentiles or losing weight?
he’s formula feed we’ve had to change his formula about 3 times
the pediatrician didn’t say he was losing weight just that he was gaining enough weight at the rate he should be
we had to go back down to 4 ounces every 2 hours sometimes he doesn’t spit up right away but he will eventually spit it back up

So he was starting to fall of his growth curve a little bit? What advice did they give you besides the reflux medicine? Does it seem like it’s been helping? My baby has crazy and spit up and after I feed her I immediately move her to her bouncer. So she is upright but also nothing is pushing on her tummy even the slightest bit and she isn’t moving. She stays in there for about 10-15 minutes then I take her out and play with her.

My LO suffers from reflux and before our pediatrician prescribed baby Pepcid, we had to go try 3 different formulas for none of them to work and ended up back on the one we started with 🤦🏻♀️
Hopefully something gives and your LO settles soon!

You are not a failing mom. I went through this with my second kid and I felt defeated. As he gets older things will get better just keep giving baby the medicine and hold baby up after every feed. If you eat spicy food trying to cut back if you are breastfeeding. If you are using formula try Enfamil A.R
My LO struggled for a bit but as soon as I staring him on solid things started to look better. You got this momma
