Any advice!
My employer has lost my Matb1 and is requesting that I should seek a new one via emailing my doctor or my midwife (which I’ve never had one set doctor or midwife during my antenatal appointment to provide).
He has not apologised for losing it and of course the document has all my private information such as my NI number, home address etc and I don’t feel comfortable knowing that it’s floating around at work somewhere.
On top of this, he is requesting this all whilst already approved and currently a week into maternity leave. I’m currently 37 weeks. Is what he is doing appropriate and what can I do?
**This part isn’t super relevant but he also did not say anything to me before going to maternity leave (no goodbyes or good lucks despite being one of the first employees at the business. I know this is a “more emotional part” of the story and not as logically incorrect but adds to the reason I feel so stressed about this whole situation when I’m supposed to be resting)

Oh no! My midwife said when she gave me it not to loose it as they cant guve another one! Hopefully thats just a local rule x

Ring ACAS for advice. There may be a breach of GDPR on his behalf which needs to be resolved. And find out what the policies are on contact during maternity leave.
I would also explain to him that they cannot produce another certificate and that he needs to find the one you have supplied.
Sounds like he’s just being a dick tbh.

I have an email version of mine, you can request them x

luckily I can get another one but it’s frustrating for the responsibility to be on me to get these documents 🥹 but It can be done luckily. Thank you for the kind wishes x

I had to ask my midwife for another as my boss did the same, lost. It, she gave me annotther annd I photocopied. It just incase the same thing happened 🤦🏻♀️

If you do get another, scan it and email it. It's what I did with mine because I didn't want the piece of paper floating around. Did it for my partners version too for his Paternity leave.
I kept my original then just incase!
