Baby with reflux (and laryngomalacia) started Omeprazole - just need to speak with mums on the same boat
Hi everyone,
So my LO (nearly 8 weeks) has laryngomalacia and reflux. We started Omeprazole nearly 2 weeks ago (which is a nightmare to give to him). We have seen a little bit of improvement but not much. His feeds are a nightmare as he just wants food ! As soon as we take the bottle away he goes wild and we have to calm him down ( I don't know if this is normal). He seems to be very uncomfortable all the time, despite burping regularly and keeping him upright afterwards. I am going mad as I feel like all we do is feed him, try to keep him calm, try to do some activities and attempt to make him have a nap. He always wakes up crying (we assume this is a cry for food). We haven't been out to meet friends yet as he is constantly crying and in discomfort 😥 and we would love for our LO to meet our friends and starting to see other people.
Is anyone in the same boat as me or has been, and has good experience/advice to provide? We don't know what to do anymore and our LO looks miserable most of the time.
Ah the only time he is happy is when he is laying flat. So we use that time to engage with him and do some activities.

Our son is 5 months old now but we had terrible reflux and suspected cmpa( his older brother has it) we tried omeprazole and carobel thickener from the gp and neither worked for us but we tried aptimil reflux milk and he was like a different baby.xx
Sorry i forgot to add the constant hunger is common for reflux babies as they sick up so much of each feed.xx
he doesn't bring up much after feed, and also has the silent reflux as sometimes we hear something coming up and then he swallows it x

I’m sorry you’re going through this. My little girl is 9 weeks tomorrow and also on omprazole. She suffers with colic too and I feel like I’m going mad with it.
Been told I’m suffering with post natal depression which I’ve explained I’ve had a baby scream for 8 weeks so are they suprised!!!
We’ve actually changed formula again last night to a colic and constipation one they do a reflux one aswell. I know there is no evidence of stuff working but apparently bavies can tolerate certain formulas better so I’m willing to try anything!!!

Hi Jen, thank you for your message. For how long did the symptoms last with your LO ? I just don't know what to do anymore and worried about his development and my insanity 😞 and it is so hard to see him like this x
My 4 month old just got put on omeprezole, I'm hoping it helps. We've had 4 months of screaming and round the clock feeds and no one gets how stressful it is
Hi wondered if there was an update from OP? My LO diagnosed with laryngomalacia today and also has silent reflux so sounds very similar situation. Started gaviscon Monday but seems to have caused constipation so want to go back to GP and push for more help xx
