Have suffered with eczema my whole life. Protopic put me in a worse withdrawal than steroids did.
Worked great in the short term, felt like a "miracle cream".. until it didn't work anymore and I needed something stronger. And then the next potency worked, until it didn't. Weaning off it became impossible, with severe flares every time I stopped. My skin is destroyed and I wish I'd never touched it. My dose was once a day for 2 weeks at 0.03%, as soon as I stopped it, within days it was flared awfully. Then they gave me 0.1%, same thing happened again.
I was left with itchy, inflamed skin. Didn't sleep for months until my body got over the worst of it. It's been several years and you won't catch me touching any protopic or other immunosuppressant cream/ointment again. Very bad experience for me unfortunately. Was not worth it for the short term relief I got
That’s good to know! Sorry to hear x
What has worked better for you? At the moment I’m just using emollient for moisture but don’t know how to calm flares/itching x

My mindset switched from trying to treat the skin to indentifying and eliminating the trigger and treating my body from within.
A combination of low histamine diet (reduced the itch significantly), air purifiers (allergy blood test confirmed dust and pollen as two of my biggest triggers), probiotics (gut health and skin health are very closely linked), taking zinc (zinc deficiency is linked to eczema and I saw huge improvement once adding this supplement)
For both me and my daughter, have been using this for 3 years, very soothing on our skin and 100/100 on the yuka app. We have not touched any steroids or immunosuppressant creams in this time

I also use aproderm ointment. Moisturising several times a day (like 10+ times a day)
There's no miracle overnight cure, it takes time to identify all of the triggers, and figure out what works best
I’m doing a lot of what you’ve mentioned but will check this cream out! Thank you x
Does it have a strong smell? I find my baby still reacts even if the cream claims to have no artificial fragrance, but still has a strong smell

It smells like the natural oils in it, mainly smelling of neem. I've used for my daughter since she was a newborn and she didn't react badly to it at all. I did a patch test first to check as she has very sensitive skin.
