Alexandra cohen or NYU langone experience for delivery?

Trying to decide between the two. I’ve heard that AC can experience really long wait times in triage to get you into a room and rushed care due of its popularity. Anyone validate that?

Heard that NYU is a lot more mom and baby friendly delivery.

And before anyone comments this - yes I already have an OB at both (both are lovely) and I’m established in the system.

I haven’t given birth at either yet but I will be at Alexandra Cohen. You need to call to get in by the time you pee on a stick. Any later and they likely won’t have availability for your due date. Someone will be available to deliver your baby; it might not be your doctor but it depends on their schedules. I’ve heard great things about Langone too!

im already in the system and I have an OB :)

Then go where you feel most comfortable! Not all OBs are the same and there are some at AC I wouldn’t have wanted following me throughout this pregnancy but that can be said anywhere.

My pregnancy and birth at NYU with the MFM team and loved it.

To address the common concern: The final night at 2:30 they brought in another mom + baby into our room, but the first 2 days/nights I had the room to myself. They are at the mercy of the demand of the hospital but do everything they can to not have you share a room.

Also my chart had high risk for PPD+ PPA and the L&D psychiatrists didn’t play. They were really great and I had to be cleared before I could be discharged which I appreciated.

NYP Alexandra Cohen is ranked better, a newer facility and guaranteed a private room. Langone is first come basis. If your OB already delivers at Alexandra Cohen there is no waitlist

thanks I’m looking for personal experiences :) even if you are guaranteed a private room at AC, I have heard from doulas that you may have to wait for hours in triage before you get to that room which can be brutal post delivery or when you’re in active labor. So I’m trying to get a sense of how often that happens.

I gave birth at AC twice. First time 2 years ago and again 3 weeks ago. I did wait in triage for some time. But triage was also a private room and bathroom. I was very comfortable there. My experience with AC was great.

I had my second son at NYU I loved it the experience they were so nice to me and my baby as well

I gave birth at NYU and I think I had a great team. They were very attentive. Followed my wishes for my birth plan. Food was pretty good. I would give birth there again.

did you get a private recovery room?

were you able to get a private recovery room?

Honestly I never even asked I think you have to ask for them

it’s first come first serve- so wondering how common it is

Avatar

Well I’m plan on giving birth there with this baby so I’ll definitely ask for a private room lol

The first night yes. I had to stay 3 days because they wanted to monitor me (baby was fine). The last night we had a shared room but we both sent our babies off to the nursery to get that last peaceful nights sleep for years to come… so it wasn’t so bad lol.

Reduced Movements

Has anyone else gone in for monitoring for reduced movements and as soon as you arrive at triage the baby starts moving and the CTG is normal? It makes me feel like I am over reacting.

Hospital bag (UK)

What did everyone pack for their section? I'm staying in for 3 days due to mental health, not really sure what I'll need to bring, feeling very nervous. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Pregnancy after c section

What time scale did everyone get pregnant again after a c section?
I know the doc said they recommend eating at least a year to 18 months but it took 4 years to get pregnant the first time after being told we could not conceive naturally so not wanting to stop it happening knowing it could take a very long time again but also worried.

Labour

Think im a bit confused really, i went into traige as was having contractions eveey 3-5mins. Since being here im now having them every 2-3mins which was confirmed with the machine and i think the toco was 90-100 and they feel painful and my lower back is in loads of pain but apparently im only just over 2cm dilated maybe, she has said i can stay here for a bit longer to see if things progress as had a previous quick birth as well but i dont understand why the pains are coming this quick if im only 2cm dilated and feel a bit deflated from it also.

I had a sweep this morning also.

Newborn stage

Is anyone tired of doing the same thing everyday and being on a 2-3 hour schedule? It’s the same everyday and I feel like I’m losing my mind. It’s making me depressed even if I get out once a day. When does it get better? I feel like I’m just waiting for the next stage where it’s not just sitting around all day.
