Birth stories

Hi ladies, I keep hearing stories from friends/family about how painful labour is. Any advice on how to reframe/ignore these?! Thanks 💕

Tell them you don’t want to hear it when they start. Labour can be painful but honestly I would say it was intense, I can’t say painful is the word I’d use 😊 hypnobirthing fear release tracks are great for this too x

Go and read positive birth stories.
Also do hypnobirthing course or read a book. It is painful but there are so many strategies to work with the pain and also ways to manage it.
Look into all your options and be prepared

I laboured at home till I got to 9 cm and I think it’s mostly down to the fact I kept telling myself I’m not in labour 😂 ive had two labours now and they were complete opposite. just remember everyone is different and everyone handles pain differently, it’s also crazy how well your body can deal with it. I’d definitely suggest hypnobirthing x

Thanks so much ladies, I've started a hypnobirthing book and podcast & generally feeling positive. Think the stories just creep into my mind & fuel my anxiety x

Just ignore everyone and when they start telling you say I don’t want to test it, they will soon think why am I telling a pregnant lady my birth story 😂
I found baths really helped went to 8cm in a bath it was the only thing that helped! Also put a podcast on!
Controversially I would say midwife should prescribe wine 😂😂

Best advice - find a polite way to say thanks but no thanks! 🤣✨ There is a time & place for people to share bad/traumatic birth stories but it is not to a Mama to be… you are having your baby 🤣 it’s unhelpful. ♥️ I LOVED Hypnobirthing - so much that I went on to train & now help other women feel calm & confident for their birth. 🤍✨ read as many birth stories as you can, of all kinds of birth - home, hospital, caesarean, assisted births! ♥️ The fact you’re already asking the above question 🙋🏽‍♀️ is a good sign! 🙌🏽 It’s worth the investment & time doing a full course! Good luck Mama & congratulations on your pregnancy! Xxxxx

Hi! I just did a podcast episode on this very topic - it’s called Calm Mama Club, so if it would be helpful for you, check it out!

As a hypnotherapist my approach is to reframe pain but not ignore it… think of yourself as an athlete - we cheer on that pain and see it as progress. That’s how labor should be viewed. Pain is progressing you towards your goal and you can turn it down using hypnobirthing, or pain medication.

You got this gal x
