Hi! Please help! Where do i start?! Ive read the solid starts book and done a ton of research, but still somehow fo know what the heck I'm doing?! Like everyone is saying to feed what we're eating just "modified". But i feel like modifications vary depending on food. Some things are obvious like certain fruits or veggies but what about chicken (we eat that a lot)? How do i modify chicken for my 6 mo? Or should I strictly be prepping her own things to ensure she is trying all the things before she's one? Like a different fruit, veggie, or protein each day? So much info out there. Id love to just hear others' experiences! TIA

Weaning can be so stressful and there’s so much info out there it can be hard to know what to do! For the first few weeks I just gave them simple things like a spear of avocado or wedge of roasted/steamed sweet potato, etc. You could also give a variety of textures of the same food too, like a whole steamed broccoli floret and the mash another one. During this time I also gradually worked through the allergens (my son has quite a few allergies so definitely recommend only giving them one at time and doing it over a few days as most of my sons reactions happened on the 3rd or 4th try). When you have introduced quite a few foods and ruled out any allergies just start giving them what you’re eating but just modified slightly, like cutting veg into spears rather than chunks so it’s easier for them to hold, etc. The Solid starts app is really good for showing how to cut things for different ages. Try not to stress too much about it though, have fun with it!

Start slow with soft foods for fun like eggs, well cooked potatoes, pancakes. Yogurt pouches or fruit pouches. Soft veggies that they can grab. I tried purred foods he hated it just so what works and experiment until you find what works. Remember milk and a daily vitamin offer the essentials, breastfeeding in any form even more so.
