Hey! I’m a new young mom to almost a month old baby boy. He was born 7lbs 4oz 20 in long and spent a week and a half in nicu for RDS. He dropped down to 6lbs 6oz and took awhile for him to get back to birth weight. He now weighs 7lbs 7oz and still in premie which i guess is normal for his size but what about his age? How much are month old babies usually weighing by now? All his newborn clothes aren’t even close to fitting to him… he’s eating 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 oz and has a bad spitting up problem *i’ve tried everything*.

oh also… he’s wearing premie in this picture and still has room to grow in it!

My NICU baby is a month old now, born 4lb 9oz and now weighs 6lb and 11oz. They've switched her from preemie diapers to nb when she hit 6lb I think a week ago. My baby has Reflux, though she isnt spitting up, but there are several signs that can show for this, spitting up is one. My baby has congestion which is another sign, apparently. Could your baby have reflux? 🤔

My first was a premie born 4 lbs 4 oz at 32 weeks and spent 27 days in the NICU. By a month old he was 6 lbs. He was in premie clothes until he was about a month and a half. He had major issues with reflux and got diagnosed with failure to thrive a week after we were discharged from the NICU (about a month old at the time). We came to the conclusion that he was sensitive to cows milk. I cut it from my diet and it helped some but I’d say he was around 9 months when the spitting up started to get better.
My second was born at 37 weeks at 6 lbs 5 oz. At 1 month he was 8 lbs 10 oz but he’s much more of an eater than my first. Still spits up a lot but has a much better appetite. Also seems to be sensitive to cows milk so I’m cutting it again but doesn’t seem to be affecting his weight gain.

They say once they are at their birth weight and you take them home they should gain about 1/2lb a week for a first couple months. Idk some baby’s are just smaller also. My son was 5lb 15oz when he was born and he’s 16lbs now (6mo)

I was a preemie mom with my son. He was born just over 3.5lbs and has always been on the small side and put on weight very slowly. Didn’t hit 7lbs until almost 2 months old.
He just turned 19 months and just barely fits in certain smaller sized brands 18m clothes and it’s the first time he’s been in his “age’s size”. One thing it took me awhile to come to terms with is that some babies are going to be on the smaller side and just like how women’s clothing sizes make no sense, baby’s clothes are very similar plus everyone has different body proportions. Carters vs cat and jack are completely different for the same month sizes as an example. Try not to let what size he’s in bother you bc in the grand scheme of things it’s a very trivial matter and will just upset you. As long as he’s happy and thriving and docs aren’t worried, just enjoy your time with your little baby. 🩵 all babies grow at their own speed!

awe go her! my baby doesn’t seem to have congestion i don’t think? he gets mylicon daily and i always burp after every ounce he eats to reduce spit up but it seems like nothing has helped?

he was born at 37 weeks so not premature except for his lungs so i couldn’t base it off that but i don’t eat alot of dairy, if any really. the spit up doesn’t bother me personally but i feel bad for him because im sure it’s uncomfortable for him. doc said i might’ve been overfeeding him so now i dont give more than 3 ox usually unless hes still acting hungry afterwards. i’ll definitely ask about reflux at his next appointment. i love him being small because hes still healthy so im in no rush!

when he wasn’t back to birthweight at 3 weeks, doc asked me to supplement with formula which i think helped but after he got past birth weight i went back to strictly breastmilk, i don’t have a problem with formula and i just quit pumping due to bad mastitis and after i run out of my frozen milk he will of course be on formula so maybe when that happens he will gain faster. i’m assuming my milk isn’t very “fatty” or whatever they consider it

i agree!! i personally love having a small baby because that means ill get to have him smaller for longer! it was more of me just being curious but thank you for the reassurance because im sure i would’ve gotten worried at some point:) i’ve noticed walmart definitely runs big on premie, everyone talked me out of buying premie so when i brought him home i rushed to get premie clothes which was hard! thankfully my SIL had twin premie boys so she gave me plenty of premie outfits and the sizes really do depend on the brand!

My baby boy is a month and a half and creeping up on 12lbs. He was born weighing 8lbs9oz.
He is definitely chunkier than my first. He’s almost into size 2 diapers and 0-3,3 month clothes. He’s growing a bit too fast if you ask me.
He’s breastfed so I’m not sure on his intake but he’s definitely eating well since he’s growing like a weed.

he sounds healthy and happy❤️ some babies are just in a rush!
