Hi! Our 13 day old has just figured out how to roll into his side, I’ve seen this is quite normal for this age called ‘newborn scrunch’ but I am worried he may roll even further onto his face.
Anyone else experienced similar/ any tips for keeping him on his back?
I’ve taken him out of love to dream swaddle as they said to stop this once rolling.
It was hot enough in our room last night for just a sleep suit, not sure if any other garments could stop him from rolling?
Thank you! ☺️

Check the cot mattress is totally flat, if it's always the same side it could be on a slant ( I had this)

You could try a togged sleepsuit - they give a bit of weight on the limbs without restricting movement x

Hi, this can be seen as a condition called Toricollis, where tension is pulling on one side of the body, causing them to turn. Recommendation: seek out body work to help relieve tension, i.e., chiropractor, cranio-sacrial therapist, or Osteopath. You may find there may be other things going on like digestion, latching to the bottle or breast, challenges with feeding. X

My 5 day old rolls to her side sometimes. It can be normal, they’re finding what’s comfortable for them. But I will definitely also recommend you check the cot and look out for any sign of discomfort from baby.
I’d say generally if baby looks relaxed and is behaving normally, probably nothing to worry about.
If you’re worried contact your GP for an appointment, always best to be safe anyways x

Our baby always rolled onto her side, she never managed to go further luckily.
I had an anterior placenta and was told that’s why, she had to have something against her face 🤷🏻♀️

I was just about to comment the same thing. My daughter always slept on her side in the newborn days as I had an anterior placenta and liked something against her face. Nearly 2 years later and she’s still the same x

yea at 6 months now she’ll only sleep now with a Muslin over the side of her face or the crib or she won’t sleep
