I’m struggling to know what size clothes to get for new born.
Baby is currently predicted to be 8lb8. I’m 33 weeks but have GD so aware size could increase a bit.
H&M baby clothes sizes guide says 0-1 month = 3kg and 1-2 month = 5kg. I’m mainly buying sleep suits but wanted to get a few cute outfits too, just no idea what size! What would people get?

I'm expecting a bigger baby too and I've bought mainly cute stuff for 1-3 months onward and then cheap bundles of newborn stuff on vinted. Realistically you don't dress them in anything other than sleepsuits at first anyway.

Im in the same boat, how many baby sleepsuits will you get?

Get 0-3 months. If it's too big you can always get smaller but you can't return clothes you've washed if they end up too small.
I didn't dress my boy in an outfit until he was about 3 months. No point and sleep suits are far easier by the time they have 3/4 outfit changes a day x

For my first baby I only got 1-3months and my son was 2.8kg at birth, it was only big for a week or so and then fitted perfectly. Planning to do the same this time, especially as I have GD so expecting baby may end up a bit bigger

My first was predicted to be a big baby, last scan at 37+3 baby was measuring 8lbs 5oz. So we mainly got 0-3 months with some up to 1 months bits. My first was born just over a week later at 38+5 weighing 7lbs 9oz. Up to 1 month was perfect, 0-3 months, even with a larger baby would probably be on the baggy side still!
My baby was long so we did do outfits early on (just cotton two pieces with socks) as her length meant some sleepsuits were too restrictive. We don't know what we are having so just doing up to 1 month Sleepsuit until baby is here then will probably get some outfits if needed!

I’ve GD too, my first was also a GD baby and was only 6lb8oz. We had taken newborn clothes but ended up having to send hubby out to get tiny newborn. I’d maybe go with newborn / 0-3 month based on what your team are predicting. We also lived in sleepsuits for the first little while so you could just get through the first few days / weeks and then grab some cute outfits - might be a nice excuse to go out for a cuppa and little shop! Hope the GD management is going well, it’s a bit stressful isn’t it!

I think it also depends where you buy the clothes from. I get a lot from next which is a little more generously sized. Also it depends on baby's length- less of an issue with vests but means footed sleepsuits can be too small with a long baby even if they weigh on smaller size.
My daughter was 8lb and wore newborn for a couple weeks. 0-3 month stuff was huge for ages. This time I've got more 0-1 month but a few basics in newborn and will take some of each in to hospital. I wont take any 0-3m with me at all, even though I think 2nd baby is usually bigger than 1st. U can buy your nice outfits once baby arrives and you're happy with sizing. I think better to take some basic newborn vests and sleepsuits anyway as worst case scenario they're too small and you've wasted a few pounds, just wouldnt go crazy buying expensive outfits in the small sizes.
Hope thats helpful.

0-3 months, don’t bother with newborn clothes

I got 0 to 3 months but then went to Primark/Asda and got some vests and sleepsuits in newborn sizes so hadnt spent a fortune if didnt fit him. In the end he came out smaller than they predicted so just bought more newborn ones online and had them next day 😊 i waited to buy any outfits until he was born xx

0-3 is the first size I have

My daughter was born 8lb8 and was in 0-3 months didn’t bother with newborn or the up to 1 month hope this helps xx
