I'm 36 weeks tomorrow and struggling so much! I've been put on ferrous fumarate for the last week due to low ferritin levels causing breathlessness, dizziness and extreme fatigue but they haven't made much difference yet. I've been back and forth with my midwife and the mau but because my hemoglobin levels and all my observations are fine they aren't concerned. This is my second pregnancy and although I had GD in my first it was a breeze compared to this. I feel so down and useless trying to look after my toddler feeling so crap.
Is anyone else the same? I have a planned section booked in for 39+1 but I really don't know how I'm going to cope til thenš

Hey girly I had low iron and ferritin levels at about 34 weeks I canāt remember exactly lol and then my hemoglobin levels then dropped slightly so they sent be for a iron infusion and I started feeling better maybe 2-3 days later but maybe push an iron infusion because they told me if my iron levels continued to drop then they was going to give me an iron infusion anyway but then my hemoglobin then dropped as well so got in quicker. Iām now 39 weeks and other struggles have set in so Iām glad I pushed for the infusion!

My iron levels and iron stores are quite low (canāt remember numbers) but my midwife and consultant seemed a little concerned, so I am booked in for an iron transfusion on Tuesday.
Try to take the ferrous fumarate with orange juice if youāre not doing so already x

Have you had your B12 and folate checked too? I had the same as you, haemoglobin was āborderlineā but had all the symptoms you describe so asked for a ferritin test (it was 8) but they also found I had low B12 and folate. They said ferrous fumarate takes three months to work so I was pushing for an infusion but I actually feel much better after starting B12 and folate meds so donāt think I need an infusion now

My iron levels and everything else in between are really low, Iām anaemic with all the symptoms of dizziness & breathlessness etc. I was prescribed iron tablets but after a couple weeks of no improvement I was sent for an iron infusion in the hospital. Iām having a blood test this week (2 weeks after the infusion) to see if thereās been any improvement and if not then I believe the next step, from what I was told in the hospital, will be a blood transfusion x

Same same same! Iām 37 weeks, low ferritin, Hb ok, but Iām super symptomatic. It has been a FIGHT to get them to prescribe, finally managed it and have been on them 1.5 weeks.
This pregnancy has been horrific (second for me too) due to the iron - some days I havenāt been able to function. Worried now I wonāt have enough time to build up my stores before birth, itās been such a frustrating journey.
