Gummy supplements for potential adhd?? Any advice please?

Hi everyone. I’ve been having an extremely hard time with my daughter. She’s 5 and I am nearly certain she has adhd has all the traits. Although when I rung the doctors about it they said they don’t diagnose it until 5 years and 10 months? Or start the diagnoses, I’ve seen a lot of ones saying about magnesium or certain gummy’s that can help them a little bit? I was thinking about giving this a try. I got these little gummies but they only have magnesium in it and I’ve gave her one every day for 3 weeks and tbh I don’t notice a difference really. It’s the meltdowns that gets me. My daughter cannot regulate her emotions atall she still has meltdowns like a two year old. It really is getting me down as I feel like I’m doing something wrong. Has anybody tried any gummy supplements that they can recommend ? Would be so grateful on help or advice even on 5 year olds meltdowns and not listening. She would scream, hit me and just completely doesn’t listen to me 🤣

Have you adjusted anything else?

Avatar

I have been a bit stricter I used to let her away with a lot of stuff now when she hits me etc or doesn’t listen I get down to her level and say no we don’t do it or have started using the naughty corner

What routine a do you have in place? Is it low impulse control? Have you tried different types of regulation techniques? Have you taken any additional parenting classes and made adjustments that way?

Is everyone one at home able to regulate their emotions?

well it’s just me and my daughter that live in the household x

I see. Same with my daughter and I. When I recognized that my emotions weren’t regulated and that I need to go about things completely differently everything changed. I changed and she followed suit.

I can highly recommend the book:
How not to murder tour adhd child!!!

Also, look up the effect of SAFFRON ON ADHD study.

Then, iron, zinc, magnesium, omega 3

Also, for ages 3–5 Years

Structured routines, calming environments, and visual schedules and timers are excellent.

Mindful movement or yoga, if appropriate and safe plus massage, hard touch, pillow fights, swinging, wheelbarrow exercises etc.

Play-based, screen-free time, especially lots of time in nature.

Hope these help!

First steps:
Focus on food first—fish, seeds, and greens can boost omega-3 and micronutrients inexpensively.

3. Incorporate movement—even short, routine plays, walks, or yoga help with attention and regulation.

4. Keep a simple symptom diary—tracking behaviours, mood, and diet can guide professionals more effectively.

5. Talk with your GP or paediatrician before any supplement addition.

One thing I would notice big time is my daughter has massive meltdowns when it comes to anything competitive. If she loses or if she can’t do something. We brought this rocket launcher thing to a park today and she couldn’t catch it and we had to leave and go home as she was having a meltdown and was trying to hit me and everything. That’s when I notice it worse. If she can’t do something

Yes all kids find it hard to share but most especially toys they really want. My son is on the spectrum with a suspected ADHD I find transitions have really helped him the most. Practicing extending wait times. I also took a parenting class when he started having melt downs and by keeping clear expectations in language he can understand set expectations I have had significantly less issue and he will have less issues. Knowing his cues and preparing for certain challenges when going out have helped significantly. My son does struggle with aggression with other kids because he has problems with impulsivity and his psychiatrist said he would will be tested once we fill in observation notes from other carer’s if they also indicate the same issues. I know it can be very isolating and frustrating when we see our kids challenging like this but know you are not alone. You’re a good mum.

Cut out red dye
Give them pro biotics
Omega capsules
Then a good multi.

I’m gonna sound stupid here but what’s red dye

Avatar

It's in a LOT of foods, candy , juices anything red colour basically has it and it's terrible for children with ADHD ...it has stuff that makes them hyper and aggressive even , leading to melt downs!

Avatar

Which magnesium are you using? Xx

Try cutting out dyes. It’s hard to cut out but you can navigate this.
My daughter’s doctor had her on a non stimulant from 4yrs old and we did a stimulant at 6yrs. Now we do both and very structured. Have you considered OT before going the medicine route. Occupational therapy is also great for emotional regulation. When you’re upset you have to show her a good example too, they really do watch us.

I’ve tried all I can think, I’ve tried magnesium, iron, zinc, probiotics you name it, haven’t noticed any benefit
