Vitamin D drops

Please don’t think I’m a bad mom but I’ve recently forgotten to give my 3 month old (nearly 4 months) her vitamin D drops and I can’t remember how long it’s been 🥺 I feel like I’ve affected her by not doing this is it really bad to not give them drops?

I’ve restarted again today and put in reminders in my phone every day! But will something happen to her for the time I didn’t give them to her?

Just the same as iron, we keep stores of it, for later use as it’s a fat-soluble vitamin. Same with babies so even if some days are missed, they will still have enough to keep them going. Don’t beat yourself up about it. They will be absolutely fine x

Hello, I wouldn’t worry. I never gave vitamin D to either of my babies. Both seem perfectly fine. I know it’s recommended, just go with your instincts.
I’ve been taking a vitamin D supplement as it helps absorb calcium and is supposedly passed on through your milk (vitamin D). As I’m breastfeeding. If your formula feeding, I believe it already contains vitamin D. Hope that helps!

Nothing will happen she just won’t have had it.

It's been a very sunny summer so I'm sure your LO got vitD from just being out and about 😊

Don’t feel bad, I’ve only started giving the drops when she turned 6 months and I’ve been trying to stay consistent.

Try not to worry! My son had blood tests and his vitamin d levels were very high so we were told to hold off with the drops until October as naturally he’ll be getting more over the summer months. Not advising to hold off but just reassuring that the sunshine we’ve had lately will have helped so try not to worry too much. My mil also always tells me she never knew about giving drops to her kids! The short time that your LO has missed the drops won’t do any harm x

I maybe did 2 weeks and then completely forgot. It’s really tricky to remember in those early days as you’re so out of routine!!

Actually , Vit D affects calcium with interferes in growing bones but also in heart rhythms . There are babies who can develop arrhythmia because of not having vit D. Also babies are very prone to develop spontaneous bone fractures
For people who say it’s not important , they have no idea .

thank you! I did think there was something that could happen!! Do you think I should get my LO checked over by the gp in case this has affected her? 🥺 I’ve definitely resumed the vitamin d from today and will not forget going forward!

I think it should be enough if you give it from now going forward and don’t forget :)
