Moms with babes who prefer to feed themselves … how are we dealing with foods like stew/ casseroles, spag bol, cottage pie etc …

Are we leaving them to be messy or is there a smarter way? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I try with the spoon/fork but if she refuses to take it & just wants to use her hands, I sit across from her & use my cutlery & more times than not, she tries to use the cutlery, but not for long πŸ₯²πŸ˜… it's hard to watch sometimes but she loves her food & will shovel it in so I guess that's something πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

I just let her use her hands and yes she gets messy but we wipe her down as much as possible and we do bath her most nights not long after dinner anyway! We always offer a plastic fork and spoon for the messier foods though and we model how to use them when eating!

He's offered cutlery to start with but more often than not he ends up going in with his hands. It's so messy, but I know from my first it doesn't last long if you give the cutlery and encouragement, each time they last a bit longer with it until they're confident πŸ’•

Let them get messy! My little one is pretty good with a spoon/fork, but if she digs her hands in, so be it! We just have a ton of wipes on hand for clean up afterwards ☺️

My little one hates being messy πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’« always tries to wipe her hands clean, so messy food isn't going well recently
