Going on a trip by plane with my toddler for the first time I’m pretty nervous 😬 any advice on how to make this trip easy for me?? It’s just me and her going and it’s 2hr 40min long .

Bring the car seat on the plane so you can strap her in. She can't get up and move and she'll be in a familiar seat

1. A lot of things to do, bring 2-3 of her favorite toys (anything that’s small in size)
2. Bring a fully charged phone and play cartoons (my toddler loves construction videos for kids on YouTube and cartoons on Netflix, you can download videos and have them available offline on both)
3. Lots of snacks - bring her favorite food and snacks on the plane.
4. Reserve a seat right before the flight where there is a possibility of an open seat next to you. Avoid being in a middle seat at all cost, it’s very uncomfortable.
5. Pack light. I traveled with a strap on seat suitcase from Amazon where you can sit your child on it. My toddler loved it! And I didn’t have to bring a stroller. The suitcase is then able to fit into the cabin luggage compartment.
6. Board pretty last minute. I’d avoid spending all of the boarding time one the plane. Rather have her run around in the waiting area and have her get the energy out and then board last.
Hope this helps & good luck 💕

And one more thing: bring a bottle of warm milk or water/juice for her to drink during take off and landing. They usually also have milk in a small pack for kids on board, you can ask for that. Drinking during take off and landing will remove the ear pressure and make her feel more comfortable.

If your kid fights you drinking juice, water or milk during take-off and landing like my son has, I'd recommend having an applesauce, yogurt, or veggie pouch, whichever they like most. My son loves yogurt pouches and didn't want to drink anything, so I grabbed the yogurt poych out of the lunchbox cooler I had, and that worked perfectly. New small toys worked for us, also coloring books with either water reveal or marker reveal options, so he's not changing out colors but can still see the picture. We had a tablet with games and movies, he didn't want headphones but just enjoyed with little to no sound. Lots of snacks! And on our last trip I took a roll of painters tape, I'd break off little pieces and put them on the seat on front of us, or the tray, and let him peel it off or move around. That kept him busy for about 15-30 minutes each flight (2 there, 2 back), I think I did the tape twice a flight, to change things up.

So far all the flights we've done have been with him in our lap, sometimes we've had empty seats next to us, other times we haven't but it hasn't been an issue yet, but next time we fly he won't be free anymore. He has also really liked trying to get the attention of the people around us, and playing peek-a-boo with them, especially when it's kids or grandma's. It makes his day

Thank you everyone this really helps a lot 💕💕

iPad or some sort of pre-recorded video kid show on your phone to keep them occupied and lots of snacks. :)

My son has been on 10 flights already!!! The most crucial things are gonna be (quiet) toys and snacks!!!

Bring a toy that is completely new to her! It’ll make her excited to play and likely keep her entertained longer. My girl loves to color so I know I would bring various art supplies. I would also bring some books you know she loves! I took my daughter on a plane when she was 13months. She ended up sleeping a majority of the flight so truthfully I’m not the best person to give advice. But we checked her car seat and checked a stroller at the gate, we put it in a stroller travel bag (they sell them on Amazon) to protect it a bit more.
