Hi! I know I don’t belong here since I have a son, not a daughter, but I figured this was the best place for my question. My son’s first birthday is coming up. I don’t want to fall into the trap of giving him only stereotypically “boy” toys (trucks, cars, dinosaurs, etc). Because at the end of the day, toys are toys, and he might like some of the “girl” ones and I want to give him that opportunity. I put baby dolls on his birthday list, he has plenty of stuffed animals, and he’s too young for Barbies. Are there any other age-appropriate recommendations that I might not be thinking of because my brain is biased toward boy stuff without thinking?

thank you that’s very helpful! I hadn’t thought of a play kitchen or dress up clothes. I knew I was forgetting things

My boy loves play kitchen. Especially the ones the utensils play music, eg, water sound playing when he moves the kettle (something like this https://amzn.to/4mdzXm5).
Cash register and supermarket.
Play house with Disney figurines (instead of dolls)
