Open incision -

Hi All. So I’m 6 weeks post emergency c section. 10 days after this I caught an infection on the incision. When I looked at my stomach I also noticed a slight hole. So I booked doctors appointment and got antibiotics and they also booked me in to get looked at by a nurse who then started the whole packing and redressing me journey. I got seen again by the nurse today as I have been going every other day to get repacked and redressed and the hole is still open. I’m wondering has anyone else been in this situation where their scar has actually opened up and how long did it take until it fully healed And is packing and redressing the only solution? My partner seems to think they are mugging me off and I should really go to the hospital now it’s been five weeks but the nurses keep reassuring me that this is the best way for my body to heal. Also has my wound opened up due to bad stitching as the nurses have made a few comments that made me think this is the case This whole recovery has been very long and very traumatic. I’m so glad this was my second and last child, just looking out for people that have been in the same or similar scenario as me.

So it took almost 8 weeks for my incision to close completely. This was after two lots of oral antibiotics and then the nurse gave topical antibiotics and gauze to apply everyday myself so it doesn’t get moisture but better than fully covering. The topical cream and gauze seemed to do the trick.

thank you for replying. Can I ask, was you allowed you shower during this time? I’ve been told no bath or shower as cannot get wet! It’s been 4 weeks and still no heeled it’s driving me mad😰 so they just looked after this yourself ? How often did doctors do anything ?

Yeah shower as normal just letting the water run over the incision but no baths until it’s completely healed. It definitely is frustrating. Yeah just applied the topical cream about 3 times daily and made sure to air it out and change the gauze if it got wet. I would keep going back to the GP until it’s healed though!

this is very different to mine. They are cleaning me and packing the wound and then dressing the wound so it’s covered I have to do this at doctors every other day. I’m not allowed to shower as can not get the dressing wet.. it’s been 4 weeks already and the hole is still open. They keep saying it’s improving but it’s such a long process it’s silly now😔😔

Period like cramps

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Midwife check

Can someone remind me when the midwife visits you at home? Is it the day after you’re discharged? And is that the same on the weekend or do they not visit then? Thanks!
