Thumb sucking
I have a 6 year old girl and she still sucks her thumb we have tried everything brittle nail polish, lemon juice, hot sauce, one of those thumb guards absolutely nothing has worked I have been trying for 5 years to stop this every day. Her teeth are starting to shift. I’ve explained that she’s going to wreck her teeth that she’ll need braces and that braces are painful and she got pinworms last year so I told her she’ll get them again if she doesn’t try and stop. and absolutely nothing has changed. I even go into her room multiple times throughout the night to try and take it out of her mouth but she even in her sleep will pull her body to her hand as I’m pulling it away to keep it in her mouth.

Try putting garlic 🧄.. my mom did that with my baby sister
I've tried everything with my son too and now my daughter does it. She stopped the soother and was fine until she saw my son doing it. Now she does it.. I don't think there is a real solution until they just stop. I've asked my dentist and he said they will stop. Maybe in his experience...but as kids get older what kid is going to admit it... Especially when the damage is done to the teeth/mouth...they will never really know...
My daughter is 7 and still sucks her thumb. Honestly I dont think she'll ever stop 😅 but to get her to do it less, I remind her to take her thumb out. Sometimes she does it out of habit and I dont think she even realizes she's doing it, therefore the reminders. And I explain to her why she needs to stop (bad for her teeth, hurts her thumb).
I also pick and choose when to tell her to stop. She has anxiety and its a self soothing thing so if I tell her to stop and she's highly stressed, it doesn't help.
