HELP! Please share tips!!

Sorry to hear this. My son was refusing his medication last month and I was worried as he temperature was above 40C for days. He would throw up if we force it and obviously kick and scream etc if we pinned him down. I tried rewards and even then it would take over an hour (on drop at a time) and was extremely emotionality painful for us. Eventually I mixed it with a lot of juice and gave lots of rewards. It still took a long time because there was so much juice to drink but it was a lot less emotionally traumatic. Have you tried rewarding him? How much juice do you use? I found we had to mix it in a whole cup of juice and give it to him when he normally drinks it (with TV) so he didn't taste the medicine! I do feel for you, not sure how I would have coped of I was pregnant, it was a task that consumed me all-day every day until he got better. It took hours and hours of time to slowly do it and negotiate with a toddler not hours is not fun but it's better than going to the hospital and putting him on a drip...

What did the doctors say about his throwing up, it might be a stomach bug and he just can't keep anything down? Do you have a partner? Perhaps take him to the gp again or ane for some observations....I know I hate ane but if he is unable to keep anything down then he might be really quite sick....I'm not a doctor so better to get professional advice...but in your case I would just give him drops of water or fuilds often, even one drop at s time in a syringe is better than nothing

Sorry to hear this and hope you are okay! My son is also really hard to get to take meds. Similar to what you’ve tried but the only thing I found that works for him is to mix it with a couple of ounces of milk and put in a baby bottle, for some reason he’ll take it like that but not mixed with juice, yoghurt etc.
