I am very fortunate that his mom helps because he doesn’t. He actually moved out of state. And I know she isn’t responsible for the kids, she is their mawmaw but I have to work 2 jobs because it’s her son not helping. I remind her of that. It’s hard, completely. If the kids aren’t at school and I am not at work, they are with me all the time except 1 night. I work 5am-8pm Monday and Tuesday so they sleep over her house. She gets them before school and after most of the time. It sucks. It’s a hard relationship with his mom, she feels she can talk certain ways to me. She hates I work 2 jobs but I remind her, he left the state and hasn’t paid child support in 2 years. Past 2 months I have at least gotten about 200 from him but his support is supposed to be $724 a month and as of right now he is in arrears of $23000.

if there are a set of things you like to do, pick the one that pays most and less likely to be destroyed by AI in 10 years or less. Also, passion and like is overrated. Sometimes you just gotta go with what will pay enough to live a comfortable life, whatever that means to you. Also, career aspirations and motherhood aren't mutually exclusive, but both do have impacts on the other. You have to find the balance that works for you and your family. I have a masters degree, and my career did not go how I initially envisioned, but then again, I was single and childless when I graduated and started my career. True career means different things to different people, and even means nothing to some. You have to find what work, and make the best out of it.

This is a wonderful question… I guess it really is based off your work experience because I am learning now post-baccalaureate that experience plays a big part and education is a smaller bit. I’m fortunate that all my experience is as a professional helper in different areas so my knowledge is wide scoped- but my higher education is about to be helpful once I finally finish (I have one course left) and it hasn’t been easy. Just know that there are actually a lot of programs and what not that helps single mothers and where there is a will- there is a way. FASFA has been amazing and also has helped me financially. I got my AA-T since my GPA wasn’t that good, then transferred to University all while getting grants on top of my courses being paid for… online is amazing for working single moms. If you’re interested, message me and we can maybe ponder together options

Honestly I had very minimal support and it was a struggle and a journey but my daughter was my motivation and indulging in self care helped me tremendously.
