Puppy pads (know it sounds crazy) or something to protect your bed/sofa anywhere you may be when giving birth!

Prepare for all scenarios! Include details of a birth plan for transfer to hospitals , plan for a home and hospital birth including c section, prepare for a water birth and land birth, lots of towels , puppy pads, shower curtains, comfy blankets !

Best advise my midwives gave me for set up is once labor begins: get your bed made all nice (how you normally would make it), then drape some cheap shower curtain liners on it, then put a cheap fitted sheet on top. That way after birth you can just trash the fitted sheet and liners and the bed is already made. I thought it was silly but it really made a huge difference.

Puppy pads, old towels, old shower curtain or water proof table cloth. I put it all in the baby bath and the midwives said how easy it was to get set up. For you, lucozade and a water bottle with a straw, the adult incontinence pants are so much better than Maternity pads. App for phone to time your contractions is useful. I had the best first home birth and was also a little off the cuff, best thing I did being at home. A blanket for after birth to have cuddles with you and baby while you rest before you shower.

Home Birth UK Facebook group will be amazing for you. It was so helpful for me, first baby planned a home birth but ended up transferring. I learnt so much frkm that group.
Cheap shower curtains, old towels. Basket for snacks.

Get a tens machine! My youngest I had at home 10.2lb and the tens machine is a life saver. Going in the pool too soon can slow down labour so it's a must have in my opinion

I got a birthing pool, maternity pads (similar to puppy pads), some shower curtains for the floor under the pool and sofa, cute battery operated lights to add some vibes and a TENS machine for early labour. Have my birth ball too which I plan to use to help the baby get into a good station x
