Baby gym play mats

How much time do babies really spend on a baby play mat?
I’m looking at the cushioned ones from mamas and papas (hard floor downstairs) so just want to see if the £100 it costs is worth it.

Mine lived on hers. She was not a cuddly baby and infinitely preferred being on her mat to wriggle and kick.

They can spend a lot of time but you can use a blanket, towel etc without needing to pay £100 for one.

I baulked at the cost but it’s been really worth it, my girl is on hers a LOT

check vinted first, they may spend alot of time on it but definitely not worth £100

i have hard flooring covered with the thinnest carpet (renting) so i bought a rug from dunelm for his play space - the playmat sits on-top of that

I bought a cheap fisher price play mat and attached extra toys to it and things like ribbons which my baby loves. I think it was about 25. We have hard floors as well and bought a foam playmat to put under it as most of them are still quite thin and when they start rolling around can hurt their head. That was from Smyth's toys and is quite big so really good for when she now shuffles about and eventually crawls etc.

Smyths do a padded playgym too I’m sure it’s only around £30 rather than £100! But we just have a normal thin one we were gifted and have laminate flooring so we put a yoga mat (we already had this we just cut it in half so we could make a square) underneath it and then when we move into a house and he has his own rooms we’re going to buy a foam playmat for him to be on

We bought a cheap one for around £30. The lo spends more and more time on it as she gradually starts engaging with the world and toys more. So glad we have it, but not sure you need to invest £100.

Mine spent a fair bit of time on the floor but I wouldn’t spend £100 on a play gym. We had a folding wipe clean mat that we put underneath our baby gym for cushioning that then got used for snack time, picnics, nappy free time, time in the garden etc as they became more mobile and uninterested in the play gym

I got the mamas and papas playmat bundle they price matched to 123£ which it was being sold for elsewhere online, it includes playmat, interactive seat and tummy time roll x

For the breastfeeding moms

What drink should I choose instead of soda? I’ve been drinking a lot of soda and sometimes water, but I want something bubbly to drink while breastfeeding. I don’t like seltzer water or flavored versions. Please help me find a drink.

thoughts…

it’s my birthday in a few weeks and i’ve just found out my partner has bought me some lingerie… a few years ago this would have been fine, except i’ve just had 3 babies in 16 months (singleton and twins) and im currently 8 weeks postpartum… i currently hate how my body looks and know i won’t want to wear anything like it.
i’ve also recently discovered he is watching porn and pleasuring himself nearly every day… this isn’t something i would normally mind, but i think the frequency he is doing it makes me feel “icky”. it feels like he’s bought me the underwear to make me more appealing to him, without thinking about whether it would be something i’d want.

am i just being overly sensitive..?

Sleeping bags

My newborn hates a swaddle of the love to dream swaddle. So was thinking of a sleeping bag.

What tog do you have your baby in that is always a warm baby, rarely cold?
My girl runs hot all the time and normally has a thin blanket on but she is constantly moving so it gets kicked off

Don't know what to do

Hey im a first time mom to my baby girl. she is 20 days old and last night was up most the night. I've had 2 hours sleep total im so tired but she won't sleep at all. She will wake up and have some of a bottle and then when I put her down after burping her she will start crying half an hour later for more. She's on 6 ounces of hungry baby formula. Im just not sure why this is happening. Could it be sleep regression?

Breastfeeding past 12 months

Guys im getting irritated. Ive been ebf now 8 months and my mum keeps saying in diff ways that “oh ur mummys gonna wean you off the breast soon” when shes 12 months.

And today shes telling me you cant breastfeed past 12 months.

And when i said i am going to and want to reach at least 2 years. Shes not saying “oh so u wanna breastfeed till 5”

Like what?

And then she’s saying because i still have baby weight i should go on manjaro. But obvs cant do that while breastfeeding.

So cant you still loose weight while breastfeeding past 12 months through diet and exercise?

Is anyone else’s family saying this about breastfeeding past 12 months? My mums just making me feel like im doing something wrong.

Is it not normal? I feel just annoyed because this is my baby and if im good with still breastfeeding her and if she still wants to breastfeed why should i stop.

How does breastfeeding past 12 months look like ?

Thank you! My rants over💗💗

Dummy removal cold turkey at 8m

My LO (8 months) wakes constantly, hourly sometimes because she needs the dummy. I wouldn’t even mind if I had to just reinsert it. But if it falls out she wakes and will escalate until I hold her. Depends on it strongly to fall asleep. Even holding her I need to give her the dummy. Takes ages to get her back in cot. This is all night. I’m so sleep deprived and can’t function. I’m considering removing cold turkey. Any advice ??? Is this the right thing to do
