So I recently had my 35 week growth scan on the 7th and baby boy was measuring slightly bigger at 6 lbs and 13 oz in the 88th percentile, the size of his abdomen was in the 98th percentile along with him having broad shoulders and the ultrasound doctor raised the concern and possibility of Shoulder Dystocia happening during the birth and that I might have more people in the room just incase they got to maneuver the baby. When my midwife responded (virtually) to the ultrasound results, only thing she mentioned was baby boy was measuring slightly bigger but everything looked normal. I talked with a few mothers including my sister in-law who went through Shoulder Dystocia and they all pretty much recommended that I should try to get a c-section instead and not take the risk. And me being a paranoid ftm researched the risks and vaginal tears are quiet normal but it could cause pelvic floor damage or excessive to severe bleeding and for baby boy he could have broken bones, brain damage, nerve damage, not breathing or even it could be fatal in some cases. I wanted to do a vaginal birth but if it's too risky, I'll take the c section for the safety of my baby and I. I just want to know everyone's input on this and is there anyone else that was told this Or moms that went through shoulder Dystocia and should I raise up these concerns with my midwife? I go see her on the 14th. Sorry I just can't help but worry.

i would def talk with your midwife about your concerns. mine is measuring in the 99th and the ppl at the scan place were very concerned even have me coming in for weekly scans. but my midwife literally brushed everything off and i was very confused.

Im on the same boat as you. Mines measuring 2 weeks ahead. They told me watch my carb intake and we will see the growth after a month . They also said if she’s too big they would recommend a c section to avoid the same problem

Not to scare you! my baby had shoulder dystocia and ended up with nerve damage. my body is trashed pelvic floor pain still a year later. we are still in physical therapy for both of us! i will be opting for. a c section with this next one

I know nothing about the shoulders , but I did have my first baby at 38 weeks and she was 6lbs and 9oz and she got stuck and I ended up with an emergency c section after labouring naturally for 18h and pushing for 4h . I decided this time round I’m going for a straight c section because the trauma of if being emergency was too great physically and mentally, also this time round my baby Is measuring 5lbs 7oz at 33 weeks so at 38 weeks again I’m going to have a 8lbs baby instead
