Long sleeve layers

I know that babies should wear one additional layer than what I would wear.
But how do we do that?
In autumn I personally generally wear a tshirt and a thin cardigan. And in winter I tend to either wear a tshirt and jumper.

Now I’m unsure on how to dress my son (nearly 2mo). We have long sleeve vests, which I got to use as an extra layer.
Do I then put a tshirt over the vest followed by a cardigan or jumper?
That just looks a bit strange in my opinion.
Or should I put a long sleeve top over his long sleeve body plus then a jumper?
That then just seems like a lot of layers on his arms. Also I personally hate the feeling of long sleeves on under another long sleeve item of clothing, but that could be just my sensory issues.
Or should I not use the long sleeve vest and buy some short sleeved vests to wear under a tshirt and jumper?

I’m most likely overthinking this, but I would love to hear how everyone else is dressing their babies now it’s getting cold 🤷🏼‍♀️

Please comment other suggestions 🙃

P.S: The poll doesn’t let me use enough characters so I have abbreviated long sleeve to LS and short sleeve to SS

With my firstborn it was alway long sleeved vest, long sleeved top, jumper until she was 2. Then with my secondborn I just went by the weather & how warm the house was as layers can always be taken off/put on.
