Any UK mums with pregnancies over 40?

I'm 42 and got a positive test!! I self reffered and got a letter for a very early scan I didn't get with my first... Is the process after 40 different than before? Thank you 🥹♥️♥️♥️

Congratulations.
I had a baby 6 months ago. I was 45. I didn't have an early scan. However I did get extra scans when I was further along as I was under a consultant as well as my midwife due to age

Yes they will put you at risk of early placenta breakdown, weird they're scanning you early on.

You will be consultant-led and given additional scans from 32 weeks to monitor growth.

I would suggest doing your own reading on the risks, the increase to risk in my opinion is person dependant and minuscule in likelihood, but it's your risk appetite and your labour that matters.

There is increased risk of early loss and we also did all of the screening, but we came back very low risk.

Congratulations and wishing you a healthy and happy pregnancy.

Congratulations mumma 💟 I just gave birth at 41 and was consultant lead, growth scans. No early scan but every trust is different.
They also may have calculated your due date wrongly?
You can call and ask too they won't mind!

My two besties mums had their young brothers both at 41 and birthed at 42 and that was 20 years ago ish and we know so much more now and my health visitor (2 weeks + 1) that I'm going to have another and I said I'm too old. She said it's not a thing 45-50 these days and she thinks this isn't my last!

Congratulations 🎉👏🏻🎉👏🏻

Conceived 41, about to deliver at 42. My first, eeek. I'm consultant led in the UK, purely due to age, as I've no other risk factors, but it's just policy...and so I get extra appts/scans....which to be honest is great, but that didn't include an early scan. First NHS scan was the normal "dating scan" between 12-14weeks. I paid private for an early scan though and also paid private for the NIPT blood test for some additional info and reassurance.

There are some increased risks for carrying and labour associated with age as another poster has said, but everyone's different and it doesn't mean we will experience them. Just things to weigh up. All in all, everything for me has been txtbook so far, my body has taken to pregnancy very well oddly. Delivery might be different so I've things to think about, but I can't complain so far at all.

Congrats and welcome to the club

Congratulations! I had my baby 7 months ago at 41. Where I live you didn't get an extra early scan as such but due to age I was under the consultant as well as midwives and I did have extra growth scans from 32 weeks onwards and consultant appointments. I didn't have any issues during the pregnancy - was induced at 39 weeks and 3 days due to them not wanting me to go overdue and ended up having quite a traumatic forceps birth unfortunately but not every one has that experience so don't let it worry you.

Hey hun. I'm 41 and will be a first-time mum, due in Dec. As others have mentioned, due to age I too have been offered extra growth scans, which are great for reassurance and to know everything is going well.

More and more ladies are having their children later in life and are doing great.

Congrats and lots of love x

Congratulations!
I’m 44 and had my first (and only)baby girl delivered 4 months ago. I too was consultant led and had additional scans throughout my pregnancy. My first scan was private though (as I could not schedule one with NHS soon enough before my planned holiday) and I think that consultation helped stabilise my pregnancy. Ask your consultant about your suitability of taking aspirin to avoid pre-eclampsia as I found that it was not general practice to prescribe this. Good luck mama!

Can you see anything? I’m 12 DPO 🙏

My own opinion is that this is inconclusive (can maybe see a vvvfl but could also be an indent too hard to tell) but curious what others see

C - section

Hello lovelies, I’m getting closer to my date of c section.

Can I ask how it all went for you? I felt prepared and now I have this awful feeling what if I bleed out! I’m sure that’s not the case. But I just wondered how it went, and how the aftermath was. I have seen on social media people say it’s horrendous but then I speak to friends and family and they’re like yeah it’s not easy but you can cope! You can walk, etc. I think it’s the unknown… lol!

Also were you all sick during your procedure and did you all get terrible trapped gas? If so what tips do you have xx

Just want to sleep again! 🫩

I wake up around 8.30am, have some cereal, meditate/pray for a bit, make a cuppa and then by 10am I’m tired again and could easily nap. My iron levels have been checked and were fine. Is it just me or is anyone else feeling like this? I’m currently 35 weeks pregnant 👀

Best way to be induced??

I just found out I may need to be induced early due to preeclampsia and having a generally bigger baby which of the ways to be induced do y’all recommended?

This is a bit strange.. but hear me out

I am 36 weeks and 4 days today.
I had that feeling, you know when you are trying to take a tampon out on your end of period and it kind of hurts because the tampon is dry? I had that sensation today?

Now I feel like I have to push something about my vagina? It kinda tickles but uncomfortable. I’m not having any pains at all anywhere btw so can’t be baby ??
