Hey! Wondering if anyone has gone into spontaneous labour before their elective C Section, and if so what were the signs? Was it waters, pains etc?
Currently nearly 38 weeks preggo & I’m having elective due to breech baby. Have had mild on and off period pains for the last week and today they’ve been way stronger and lower back pain too. I know that this could be my body ‘preparing’ but at what point should I ring triage? Do I wait for pains to be really bad? Wait for waters?

Hi there! My water broke at 38 weeks and 6 days. My baby girl was also breech and I was supposed to have a scheduled c-section but ended up having to go in for an emergency one. I didn’t have pain or anything. BUT, I would call your obgyn’s office or go to the hospital if you feel like you’re “cramping” frequently.

I’d maybe start recording the timing of the period type pains. All of my contractions were like this (low down) rather than across my whole stomach until right before giving birth.
It also wouldn’t hurt to call the triage line if you’re worried. Xx

I had planned section booked and I went into labour early started with period pains and back ache gradually got worse, then contractions started went hospital and cause was only 1cm they sent me away next day at night contractions was thick n fast and went back into hospital I was 3cm so had the section straight away x

I started getting contractions the day before my planned c section due to liver complications.
They started from about 2 pm ish and continued to get more intense. Rang triage about 11pm and they told us to come in. I was panicking as the thought of a VB petrified me!! They told me not to worry and k would still have one. I was only 1cm and I was monitored through the night and was first in surgery at 930am. Thank goodness! He was born at 955am and now he’s 2!
I would make a note and time them and ring triage if you are concerned or anxious! Best thing to do! Good luck! Xxx

Me ! I had a scheduled elective c section due to breech baby. But baby came the day before / I had consistent contractions. They were never “ unbearable “ but when I got to the hospital they were setting me up but baby was ready. My mom said baby legs were out. They had to rush in. So he was vaginal

I had an elective c section planned at 39 weeks and went into labour at 37w4d. I didn't realize they were labour pains because they were irregular. I think I was also in a bit of denial! So in an effort to distract myself from the pain knitted, made breakfast, showered and got ready, dropped toddler off at daycare and then thought the pain was unbearable and decided to head to the hospital to get it checked out. Still didn't think I was in labour, suspected something else was off. Was a little shocked to see the Doppler reading regular contractions. I didn't want to give birth vaginally because of a traumatic birth the first time. The birthing team were prepped for early contractions so had a smooth rest of the birthing experience with a c section giving birth to a healthy baby.

Happened to me. My waters broke, no signs before that. I was also supposed to have an elective due to breech baby. I don't think triage will see you until you're having contractions a certain amount of space apart but you could call them and see!
