He completely drains the bottle reach feed. I read so many things and have asked midwives and HV and some say you can overfeed a formula fed baby, others say you can’t. So just wondered if anyone else 3 week old has been on 5 ounces? Thank you

My 1 week old is on 3 and also drinks all the bottle. Sometimes if I try to give her less she shows cues for more and drinks until she hits the mark for 90 total so I think some babies just drink a lot 🤣

My 3 week old would definitely have a good go at a 5 ounce bottle as he’s clearing a 4 ounce every 4 hours at the moment but when my health visitor came she said to keep him on 4 as 5 is too much but he is draining the 4s 🤷🏼♀️

Ye mine was, but every 3hrs! Wondering how to get to that elusive 4hrs!!

Up by an oz and see how they go, they might only want an the extra oz once a day for example and it might be a growth spurt, they’ll quickly let you know if it’s not enough / too much - mine would have 150ml / 5oz for a morning or night bottle then slightly less during the day x

Yep my lb is on 5 oz every 4 hour. I thought going up to 6 oz was too much but now he's eating every 3 hours so I think I need toilet him have 6oz x

It goes on weight of the baby too rather than age x

I have put my baby on 5OZ as she was drinking the whole 4oz bottle- since putting her onto 5OZ there’s always something left in the bottle sometimes she will drink 1/3 oz depending on when her last feed was sometimes she just wakes up for a top up and wants just the 1oz and then will sleep for a couple of hours…. Sometimes she will drink 41/2 oz and sometimes she will finish the bottle! It all depends on time inbetween feeds but because she was finishing the 4oz bottle I put it up to 5OZ so she has the extra in the bottle if she wants it…. I rather her have the extra than not enough and she goes hungry xxx
