So my husbands relatives are obsessed with me shaving my sons head again. It’s in our religion to shave the baby’s head at one week old which I did. And slowly it started growing back. He’s now almost 4 months old and it started from the top to the point it looked like he had short back and sides and now slowly growing from sides too. The back is naturally always patchy as they rub their head when laying in bed. Now the amount of times they’ve just said shave his head once more or 2-3 times or commented on how ‘thin’ it is and he’s prob gone on his dad blah blah. Mine is quite medium good thickness not extremely thick but I’m sure there’s no scientific evidence that shaving the head makes it grow back. And as he’s a boy he’s going to be having haircuts his whole life. It’s girls who you’d be more conscious about no? As they won’t ever shave their heads again. Can someone who’s not shaved their kids head at all or after the one time confirm if their kids have thick hair as it’s pissing me off the amount of times they’re ’telling me’ what to do!

Babys hair thickness comes from genetics its absolute bull and an old wives tale that shaving it makes it grow back thicker..my 1st son who's Granddad is from Pakistan tried to force me to shave his hair i refused,he had the thickest head of hair so much so I had to take him to get it trimmed at 3 weeks..if you don't want to do it please stand your ground and stick to your decision x

Shaving it does not make it thicker, however regular trims will keep it healthier and give the appearance of thicker hair.
I’m a hairdresser and I didn’t shave either of my boys hair at birth, my eldest had a haircut at 6 months and my youngest at around 5 months and they’ve both a decent amount of hair now but ultimately it’s down to genetics.

Thank you 😊 I started way too early 🤣😅 but hes one of my best mates and such a good lad xx
