My 6 month old had stopped cooing/squealing for almost 2 months now. She just grunts and makes mmm sounds. First we thought she was focusing on rolling but it’s been a month after rolling and her cooing is not back. I’ve talked to her pediatrician and they were not concerned since she is still making sounds and has good eye contact. I’m not sure if anyone’s baby has stopped being vocal and found their voices back. I miss my baby’s cooing so so much.

Wow, I was literally just looking this up this morning. My son is doing the same and I am starting to worry!

usually once babies learn something they don’t go back to it, my son used to say “ga” and “ba” nonstop but now he’s on to screeching and saying “mama”.. it’ll come back!! he says “ga”and “ba” every now and then but definitely not as much as he did when he first learned it, same with “ah”

Have the been vaccinated?

My baby did this now she’s squealing and saying ahhhhhhhhh ahhhhhhhhh ahhhhhhhhhh so I’ll copy her the first time and she’ll do it back and then I’ll add ahhhhhhhdaaaaaaaa so she can learn daaaaa so she can say dada

My babes did the same thing, she still babbles and squeals, but not as much. She is learning new things every day though that I think might occupy her mind more 😂

So she sometimes will grunt with her mouth open and make aaaah sounds. But beside that, no happy sounds. She doesn’t even care to do back and fort cooing with me anymore. I look it up and the regression with new skill shouldn’t last for more than 1-2 weeks. I’m a ftm so I don’t know what to expect or if the sounds she is making now count as cooing.

I can also say that for a while they will say the same sound then stop and focus on something else. Sometimes babies focus more on their stronger skills if you are focusing on rolling that’s more physical and once she feels she has mastered that she might go back to language in the next leap. Try not to worry when they get to 10 months or so you will start to see the integration of skills. My son was always language focused and he didn’t start rolling till 5.5 months- I was so worried. But no he’s walking and talking happy 18 month old. Xx

my son is 6 months an he doesnt coo either, but he makes all kinds of different noises🩵 he yells too because babies like to hear how loud they can be
