Speech

Is anyone else’s little ones still not ‘talking’ my little girl does say quite a few words but isn’t stringing sentences longer than two words together. Her nursery told us back in September they think she’d benefit from speech and language therapy (this still hasn’t started yet)

I see so many videos of toddlers around her ages speaking so clearly, and putting together sentences and it does make me feel like I’ve done something wrong along the way, maybe I didn’t encourage her speech enough🫠

Is there any other Mums in a similar boat in regard to speech?

My little boy still isn’t talking, he’ll say the odd word on his terms and try copy what we say when it suits him but it’s usually the first or last syllables rather than the full word. His understanding is all there and he’s quite clever, just delayed with speech but at his 2 year review last month they weren’t concerned and said he’ll get there but if I’m still worried by the time he’s 2 and a half, I can get back in touch and they can look at speech therapists but they were confident he’ll just wake up one morning and start talking🤞🏼🤣 it does get to you when you see children a similar age chattering away but I’m trying not to compare and just think he’ll get there when he gets there x

My little boy doesn’t really string a sentence together either but his nursery haven’t mentioned anything about s&l therapy. He can already say so many more words than what he could at the beginning of October but still no sentences and we’ve done all sorts with him to help speech. I think it just comes to them when they’re ready and it’s definitely not anything we’ve done wrong so try not to think that way!x

My little boy will say the same 3 or 4 short sentences for example ‘ let’s go home’ and says lots of random words but isn’t really there yet with communicating properly. The way he pronounces words are also not there yet but they said the same to me at his 2 year check that it will come in time. They all develop so differently and in their own time it’s hard not to worry but I’m sure she’s doing great xx 🫶🏼

I wouldn't worry too much over it. I know of children who didn't speak until they were 3.
Each child develops at their own pace

I wouldn’t worry about it. My son is a chatterbox mainly because he has a 5 year old sister and copies everything she says. My daughter was quite slow with speech then woke up one day and wouldn’t stop talking

Thank you for all these comments, she has her 2 year health review in a few weeks, I know I shouldn’t compare but sometimes I can’t help it, and find myself becoming sad thinking oh she’ll never get there (I know she will and I’m just being silly)

I wonder if she has a lot of toys which speak, play music so she doesn’t feel the need to speak as much? I wouldn’t worry, everyone is different and everyone learns to speak at some point.

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰

Hi ya'll

Is anyone else's 4 month old randomly screeching now? I'm not sure what to do and she's been doing this for the past two days. She's usually a quiet happy baby so im not sure why she's doing this now. Aby suggestions?

Baby losing weight

Hi all, it's been a long time since I had a baby (my son is 15!). My daughter is 10 days old and was 9lb born, she has since lost weight at every appointment and is at a 12% loss. I am breast feeding every two hours for over an hour and topping her up every feed. I pump and can get 60ml in 10 minutes so I know my supply is okay. Anyone had this before? Can give me some tips? I currently feel like I'm letting my baby down.

Did I overreact?

I have had 3 c sections, recently had a wisdom teeth removal (4) to be exact and all my mom did was visit the day BEFORE and then she only sent 1 text. She has NEVER spent one full day with me and doesn’t acknowledge my achievements much. She just isn’t there when I need her to be. She claims she’s always working but she lives like 7 minutes away! she can come help with the kids so my husband can have break? we don’t ask her for much and she only sees the kids 1-2 a month. She also didn’t visit with my last c section. I told her that she should’ve gotten the abortion when she had the chance with me because why would you have me and neglect me emotionally? To not actually give me a present father in my life. I am very angry all she does is disappoint me. She only wants to show up for certain people in the family and I just want to grab her and shake her and ask her why can’t she be a good present mother?
