Epidural?
I'm debating whether or not to put an epidural in my birth preferences, I'd love to hear from anyone who has had one, either good or bad! I had my first with no pain relief and have mixed feelings about the experience. Thanks to anyone willing to share!

I went into labour with an open mind about my birth plan and definitely felt I needed the epidural. It made it much more manageable for me personally ❤️
Never had one , have only ever given birth on just gas and air , but I know so many people that have had it and ended up with back problems after , plus if you have it your more then likely have to stay in until it where’s off , if you give birth without it , and you and baby are fine , you will be more then likely be allowed home the same day
W my first I got induced and opted for the epidural since those pitocin contraction are no joke🥴but once the anestesia was wearing off and I needed another “dose” it was already time to push and they said I’d be too numb if I got more anestesia at the moment so I felt everything😩good thing I only pushed for 20 mins but felt like I got it for nothing. W my second I went w the mentality of no epidural and it was such a blissful experience YES painful but it truly was magical to be in the moment and see what you’re truly capable of and not being numb for hours after labor was also a plus
I had one after being induced and I always said I didn’t want one but I was crying out for it in the end and felt so much better after having it. I think go in with an open mind and do what feels right at the time.
I had one with my first, was induced so not sure if that makes the contractions worse as hormonal rather than natural but it was bloody lovely 😂 I even managed to sleep for a few hours which was a godsend as took 4 days!!
I had one with my first following an induction. My labour went on for two days and the last 12 hours I had an epidural - it changed everything for me, I felt so much more with it and obviously completely removed my pain.
I had no complications from it afterwards. each birth will be different depending on timings etc…. I’m one week pp with my second following a water birth with gas and air. I still wanted the epidural as the pain was unbearable but it ended up being very quick so no time for it!
If you have time, I would always recommend an epidural ☺️
