Baby sleep

Night time feeds

A question for those who pump:

Do you wake your baby up to feed after pumping in the night?

My 10 week old has started to have longer stretches in the night normally ranging 6 hours. Usually fully down by 11:30pm - 6am then back for more sleep up by 9am.

I usually (try) wake up around 4am to pump and sometimes hear her stirring like she's about to wake up but never does but will usually wake up around 5-6am for a feed. But I usually feel tired after going back to bed after pumping.

I want to try and maybe wake her up after pumping whilst I'm still awake to feed her and put her back to sleep after knowing she won't wake me up after I've gone back to bed. When she's stirring I can hear her chomping on her hands like she's hungry but still in deep sleep.

I can't leave my pumping until she wakes up as I already wake up engorged and sheets slightly wet from leaking..

Postpartum mental health

Postpartum recovery - what about me?

I'm a mum myself and I'm building something to support postpartum recovery β€” because when I went through it I realised how little support actually exists for us.

I'm looking for around 10 Mums who are between week 1 and week 20 post birth to participate in a trial of my first concept.

For the 7 days, I would check in with you once a day on WhatsApp. Just a short message, nothing heavy. All I need from the Mums is to respond however you feel β€” even just an emoji is fine. There are no right answers and nothing to prepare.

At the end of the week I'll ask you a few quick questions about how it felt. You can stop at any point and you can be as brutally honest as you like β€” that's actually more useful to me than being kind.

Can be first, second or beyond in being a Mum. Any birth experience is fine. It's focused on you vs baby.

If you're in those early stages, and would be open to helping a Mum with figuring out how to help support Mums through this stage, comment and I’ll get in touch.
