Room transition

Last night was the first time my little one slept in her own room (shared with her brother) when she was with us she slept through from 9:30 to 7 but last night we had a few wake ups luckily my son is a heavy sleeper so he didn’t wake up when she cried or stirred, my son didn’t sleep through until he was 18months so I’ve got nothing to compare her to but has anyone else transitioned and how long did it take to get back into their usual sleep pattern

My son has done it really well and honestly pretty fast - around a week or two we had much less wake ups but I don’t know if that was his own room or teething etc waking him up. He does still wake up once around 5 for a bottle some days but luckily he’s not a crier just babbles😂 he’s an early riser anyway though

Would you call triage?

I've been having braxton hicks for about 1.5 hours, they're not painful but I have had a very slight period like pain. Moving and changing position doesn't stop them. I'm 34+4, would you call triage? I don't want to be a time waster.

Am I overreacting

Our son is 6 weeks old, turns 7 tomorrow. my partner never wakes up at night to help unless I ask him , ( sometimes I don’t need his help coz he has to go work and I don’t mind doing it myself ) the only time I ask for help is when I’m extremely exhausted or when baby has really kept me up. when he does wake up on his own he just looks at us and goes back to sleep and sometimes he opts to sleep in the living room on the couch, btw he doesn’t share a bed with me, he sleeps on the floor bed for reasons best known to him! When I ask him to look after the baby he still comes back to ask questions on whether he is supposed to feed him, change him or put him to sleep which is just as good as me staying up and looking after baby myself. I was telling him about appointments I’ve got booked for our son and he said to me he can’t come I need to use uber, this came up after we went for our 6 weeks post natal check and he said to me he could have gone to work . I said to him the baby is ours he need to be a parent just like I do and not be selective on when he can and can’t help and shouldn’t let me do everything on my own., he needs to be involved! That aside, my son still wakes up almost 2-3 hourly for feeds so obviously I was up most of the night, after the appointment he told me he couldn’t look after the baby coz he needed to rest, which honestly I feel is unfair, he slept the whole night, he had his afternoon nap and I didn’t coz baby been fussy the whole day . He is quiet helpful with meal preps but sometimes I just need a break from baby and just get some rest, I feel I’m doing it all alone. We argued about the whole thing coz I have been repeating the same thing for 6 weeks now and he has been calling everyone saying I was screaming at him when I don’t ask him to help , honestly should I ask each and every time? Sometimes I would be eating me meals whilst carrying the baby and he would just be seated . Honestly it’s exhausting having to ask all the time when I have explained several times of what I require from him. keep in mind he wanted the baby, I love my son but he pushed for me to have a baby and he’s also complained about me getting the coil as contraception coz I told him I don’t want to go through this whole experience again. Honestly what would one do in this case

I’m worried my baby always smells

I don’t know why I find my 6 month old to always smell? He gets a bath every night, but his hands are constantly in his mouth so they’re covered in saliva, he’s quite a sicky baby so he’s constantly being sick and no matter how many outfit changes or wipes to the neck, once he’s been sick that smell seems to linger until his bath. I see other babies and they just look so perfect, other mams have never really mentioned anything like this before. Am I getting in my head?

Am I overreacting

I left my baby for the first time at this age (11 months) with a cousin. I left him for an hour so I could pop to the shops locally and she gave him a bottle to stop him crying. That was an extra bottle she gave him. I told her she can give him snacks provided but she gave him a bottle instead - like why? This was my worry that because my LO eats so much people would just use milk or food to calm him down. I would have preferred her to give him snacks rather than an extra bottle. He has three small 4.5oz bottles a day and I've just seen she used an old dirty bottle. I don't get it because she messaged me and I told her what snack to give. This does not do well for my anxiety or trust.

Bottle Preference Help?

Hello,

I'm not sure if I'm looking for advice or just a bit of reassurance!

My baby girl is just over 3 weeks old and breastfeeding has been a really tough so far. I had my heart set on exclusively breastfeeding, but it's just not gone how I'd hoped.

We ended up on a feeding plan because she had jaundice, a slight tongue tie and lost quite a bit of weight in her first couple of weeks. Thankfully she's now back above her birth weight, but we're still triple feeding (breast, bottle top-up and pumping every 3 hours), and honestly it's exhausting.

We're slowly getting past the latch issues we had at the beginning, but now I'm worried she's developed a bottle preference. A lot of the time she'll latch and suck for ages, but it feels like she's just comfort suckling rather than actually feeding. Then she'll happily take a bottle afterwards, which makes me wonder if she's getting much from me at all.

I'm also using nipple shields to make the transition from breast to bottle less obvious to her.

Has anyone else been through this and managed to turn it around? Did your baby eventually go on to exclusively breastfeed after needing bottles and a feeding plan?

I know she's still tiny and it's early days, but I'd really love to exclusive breastfeed. I'd love to hear any experiences, tips or success stories because I'm finding this whole process quite overwhelming.

Feeling lonely😅

A few days ago, I drove to a local park to get myself and my baby some fresh air. We have well and truly been in the trenches so it was definitely a mental health walk. While I was paying for parking I saw a few other mams getting g their babies out of cars and into pushchairs but I thought nothing of it and I didn’t see them anywhere along the walk.

At the end of the walk I went to the cafe, and honestly I felt no better. I’d been walking around crying, I was exhausted and desperately needing a break but the only thing to stop my baby crying was to walk and walk and walk. I was just feeling sorry for myself really. As I sat down outside this cafe, through the window I saw the group of mams all sat around a few tables, talking together. A few saw me sat outside, clearly upset. But not one approached me, asked if I was okay or if I wanted to join. Addmitedly I didn’t approach them either, but I knew if i was a mam sat in that group and saw a mother crying on her own, I would not ignore her. Being ignored made me even more upset and I left shortly after.

Honestly not sure if i was valid in being upset, but it’s so unlike me and i’m putting it down to hormones and sleep deprivation. I guess I’d just like to share, please don’t leave other mams out, even if you don’t know them a smile or a hello would go a long way :)
