Cutting my mum off

Hey I need some advice, I love my mum and always will but her priorities and decisions are effecting mine and her grandchildren’s lives, me and my children can’t go to my mums anymore because she has a peadophile living in her home, this guy is my “ex” from when I was only 14 yrs old, this guy was 22 and manipulated me because at the time I was vulnerable and felt alone but he seem to care, 4 years of my life was hell, he’d attack me when he couldn’t get his fix (weed) and at 18 I finally realised that I didn’t want that anymore and I had to move away to get away from him as he would stalk me and smash my mums house, anyways fast forward to now, he’s now living at my mums and has done for the last 10 months, he’s been outed on peadophile hunters pages and I’ve tried to explain to my mum that I can’t and won’t bring my children to her house while he’s living there, I’ve pleaded with her and explained what he put me through although she already knows, this has caused many arguments between me and my mum to the point sometimes this guy will pipe up in the background and start mouthing off at me, my partner has said I need to cut all ties as she’s making my ptsd worse and are calls always end up with me in tears or just feeling deflated by the whole situation, I just want my mum to see me and hear me but I’m falling on deaf ears, I’m at the point where I don’t know if I’d be better of cutting ties and calling it a day. What would you all do in this situation because I just don’t know what to do anymore for the best.

She’s essentially choosing sides by letting this man keep living with her. She knows he’s a pedophile and isn’t a safe man for children to be around, I agree with your partner. I’m sorry you’re going through this xx

I would definitely cut her off imo. Why is she even with someone you were once involved with? Especially if he was in an inappropriate relationship with you (and others it seems like). Keep away but maybe be open to hear your mum out when they have broken up. You're very strong and your putting yours and your kids safety first! It seems to me like your mum doesnt really appreciate or value your relationship at the minute anyway.

I’m so so sorry to hear what you’ve been through. I can totally relate to how you’re feeling with your mum but won’t divulge here. I feel like you do need to cut her out of your life atm. At least until she puts you first and doesn’t house a man who abused her own daughter and is a paedophile/ risk to her grandchild. I take it she knows about how he treated you? What does she get out of this man living with her? If it’s about money then fuck that! You should come first/ be a priority. Even more so for her grandchild !!

Why did she let him stay with her after so many years and after everything that happened?
Honestly, if she is siding with him, cut her off. You don't have to keep her in your life just because she is your mother. If she makes decisions against your wellbeing and the wellbeing of your children, she doesn't deserve to stay in your life.
I cut my twin sister out of my life about one year ago because she is a total bully since childhood and seeing she would never change (also after having made a very nasty comment about my miscarriage last year), I decided that I don't want someone like that in my life - family or not.

I’m genuinely so sorry about everything that happened with you and what your mum is putting you through. You deserve better! If she’d rather care about someone who abused her own daughter and protect a Paedophile she doesn’t deserve you or your children in her life as she definitely sounds like an unfit mother and grandmother. Who doesn’t deserve to be trusted. It’s best to keep toxic people out of your life even if it’s your own family.

I was in a similar situation , my mom is dating a man who s3xually ab0sed me, and as much as I want her to meet my son and be a part of my life she has her prioritise wring , hers should be you and yours is your child's safety its a hard call to make , but think about if something happened youd never be able to live with yourself.
Protect them but also protect you ❤️

Definitely cut her out - she's putting your children at risk. If you were to go see her, or even her see you, and social services found out, you could lose them.

Just a word of warning though - her (and possibly others) will try to make you feel like you're in the wrong. They will tell you things like you're spiteful, you're upsetting your kids etc, so you need to stay strong and stick to your guns. Surround yourself with supportive and understanding people. It's wonderful to hear you partner is already backing you! It will be painful at times and you will miss her but your quality of life will improve, I promise ❤️

Cut her off honestly. I’m so sorry you’re going through this is so unfair on you.😕❤️

You give your mum the best bit of advice you can, you tell her when she makes the right decision you will happily get back in contact (if you want to) and if she’s in danger you are always there BUT until that point you cut all ties, because if your mum is choosing scum like that over you, you don’t need to be wasting your breath or putting yourself or your kids in danger at all! So just cut her off but be blunt, clear and don’t back down 🩷 ask your partner for support when needed and when you feel you may break the boundary etc xx

Drop her and live your life with your kids. The fact he’s still there means she’s chosen him babe. Not many chances to say this but your partner is right x

Just wanted to thank everyone for the replies, I decided to cut my mum off after one last and failed attempt of trying to get her to hear me out, in the end she turned spiteful and nasty to the point I’m honestly embarrassed she’s even my mother

I’m really proud of you, it isn’t an easy thing to do but for your own sanity it’s the best thing for you and your family. In the end she showed who she really is, protect your peace x
