UK: How does everyone feel about the lift of the 2 child benefit cap?

I don’t think when people say that they mean you should have all the money saved up in advance. I assume they mean you should consider your household income, outgoings and the additional cost of having a child and make sure you can afford it. More like making sure you can afford it when you take out a mortgage.

If someone can’t afford to have kids in London that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have kids. That means they should make a plan (to move, get better qualifications, promoted etc.) so that they can afford kids.

The birth rate declining needs to be addressed as it impacts our economy and people simply can’t afford it so haven’t been having more children, so lifting it could definitely be positive
