Eczema/dry skin & cradle cap

My baby has really dry skin that seems inflamed quite a lot of the time, and it’s only on his face. I’ve taken him to the doctors and she prescribed some soap to use but no cream. I’ve used Aveeno, Sudocrem, Epaderm and coconut oil (not at the same time I’ve given them time to see if each one works before trying something else) but nothing seems to help. Has anyone got any advice, I feel so awful for him because it’s definitely annoying him.

Don’t use any products that have ben derived from food. Aka Oats, avocado, coconut etc as using on broken skin can cause baby to have aversions to them. I did this and it made my baby’s skin worse. Stick to what the Dr prescribed only and if that doesn’t work, go back. For now, keep his face dry / clean and use a barrier cream.

My baby has the same. Unfortunately nothing helped and she had to have a steroid cream (timodine) which I only used for one week to get it under control. Now I just make sure I keep her face dry and I use Vaseline only!

I'm still struggling with eczema on my LO but have seen the most improvement when using vaseline.

Bless him :( my sons got really bad dry skin over the top and sides of his head too, down his neck/throat and tummy. I only notice a difference with sudocream as it’s completely drying it out and causing it all to flake off x

Vaseline or Cetraben. X

Mine looked similar - we are EBF and I cut all dairy and his skin looked almost perfect a week or so later. I was CMPA as a child and it gave me eczema too…. It was only when I noticed it behind his ears and elbows that I remembered having the same.
I miss cheese but his skin looks great now

If you haven't already , try breast milk ! Either gently rub into his skin with clean fingers or use a cotton pad. You can apply it as much as you like.

Thanks everyone for your replies! I’ve used Epaderm and then Vaseline over the top and it seems to have made a massive difference!

This is exactly like my daughter’s skin! We’ve had double base gel from doctors and that doesn’t work we’ve got epaderm and aproderm lotions & hydrocortisone steroid cream. The steroid cream helps but then comes back. But what I’ve done is ask chat GPT and sent photos etc and says to keep applying Vaseline then once it’s calmed down try applying one of the moisturisers so going to see which one works best for us. Skin is a nightmare to try and control!! X

Ah yeah it’s really annoying 🤣 and I don’t think it’s her milk she’s on as she’s so happy and the doctors did say they don’t think it’s the milk either as she’d have other symptoms etc.. I know people are so quick in changing baby’s milk but like you said I have it under control and then flares up randomly 🫩 ooo we’ve got the epaderm ointment we had that from the doctors. I haven’t tried that way- will give that a go tomorrow! I’ve been doing epaderm cream then Vaseline. Xx
