Anyone using Natural Cycles as a form of BC: have you ever had an issue with it not confirming ovulation?

I’m using NC as a form of BC along with using ovulation tests. The first month I logged a positive ovulation test and the NC app picked up ovulation via temp rise. After that, I kind of wanted to put it to the test to see what would happen if I didn’t log my positive ovulation tests and guess what? The app doesn’t ever confirm ovulation. Has anyone else had this issue? I’ve just paid £90 for the app and over £200 for a new Apple Watch to take my temp so it will be annoying if it was all a waste of money. I don’t want to go on hormonal BC and I feel the implant is just too intrusive of a procedure so I was really hoping NC would be a success.

I just got into a habit of taking my temp manually daily in the slot of my “fertile window” (those 4-5 days) and figure out exactly when my ovulation days are…it estimates my “fertile window” but I have to confirm it w daily temp taking. Annoying, but I’ve gotten used to it. It takes 2secs anyway. Also he doesn’t wear a condom on my non fertile days but he never cums inside either. The last time he came inside we were TTC 6yrs ago and it took, I got pregnant. So we’re only using condoms in my fertile window to prevent pregnancy (and I haven’t fallen pregnant since, when he was born 6yrs ago, he’s my 3rd and last and I’m not planning to go on hormonal BC for the duration of my menstrual years)
