What’s everyone’s Santa rules?

My partners mum and nan both say that Santa goes to their house too and that the presents there are from Santa..which personally I don’t think should be done as it would just make no sense unless they were staying there? Do other people say Santa visits grandparents too?

Santa comes to our house and brings them a stocking but the big presents our from mummy and daddy and all gifts from other people are from them Santa shouldn’t get all the credit

That’s what I was saying but they all looked at me like I was insane! Then tried to say I was ruining the kids Santa magic! The whole thing is just bizarre and then his mum booked to take our youngest to Santa for his first Christmas and said we weren’t allowed to take him because he was don’t express Santa in the right way.

Avatar

That's even weirder, I wouldn't be letting MIL take my little one if they said that we weren't allowed to come, just seems dodgy 😬 I agree with above sentiment from Skye, Santa brings stocking and 1 present and then rest are from us/whoever got them

Haha! That's so bizarre! I'm totally the bad mama that would tell my kid the truth about Santa way early just to make mum and nan mad.

The Santa thing caused a big argument and I’ve refused for the kids to be going out with them if that’s her intention. Boundaries is not something she understands unfortunately

What my mum always did when I was little and I'm going to too when she understands is saying that some presents mummy buys and sends to Santa to look after and get ready for Christmas. Then he delivers them back on Christmas eve with a few special ones from him and the elves.

So the ones at my nannas were always ones Santa had kept safe for Nanna. Santa still visited but the presents were ones nanna and grandad had got us so maybe Santa left some there too but the bulk were from them.

It was still all super magical but I knew not everything was from Santa

Sorry this is such a rambling response I'm so overtired and there isn't a concise thought in my head 🤣

We do the same with gifts. It’s how my mum did it so I just carried on with it! my eldest started asking my mum if Santa will bring gifts to her house and she outright said that her and grampy will be buying their gifts as Santa only comes to our house so I just worry they’re going to end up having it ruined for them because my partners side can’t just respect what we do with our children

Santa brings the gifts to our house. Anything extra from anyone else is from them

In our house santa comes to our house and our audhd lad when he started to talk said santa came to nan's house as well so we stick to that. Im keeping the magic alive for as long as I can the older 2 where around his age when they stopped believing. This year he says santa only comes to big and little children and adults get their own. As I have no choice to get presents for ppl with him in tow.

Santa comes to our house and gets them one small present. The rest are from us or other family.

Different families do Santa in their own way and your in laws need to understand that you as the parents will decide how Santa works for your kids. They've had their time!

Just sounds like you need to set some fierce boundaries, you've already set one by saying they can see them after Christmas so nothing is ruined, I would keep then at arms length and tell them what they are doing is unacceptable.
My mum always asks what to buy and I give her ideas, I would be horrified with her behaviour if she purposefully went and brought (and expects me to send mine back) what I brought it sounds spiteful and controlling

Honestly depends how much you can take and how much you want her involved

I would litrually be going away for xmas and just say like you need to change or I'm done
It would spoil it for everyone so no wonder you feel some type of way

Sending positive vibes

In our house, Santa gives one present and the rest are from family.

We have never said Santa gives all the presents. That's a strange tradition and makes no sense.

We always do christmas morning at our house as santa comes to ours but he only brings stockings, the rest of the presents my LO knows are from his family x

My granddad would spend Christmas in Florida some years. Some Christmases we would drive down and spend with him, some years he would stay with us. It wasn't until much later that I connected the years "Santa made a mistake and brought this to me" were the years we didn't spend Christmas together, just New Year's.

Santa only visits houses with good boys and girls in and he doesn’t deliver adult presents. So mummy and daddy have to shop for each other but we send Santa the money for him to make and deliver their presents x

Avatar

I’m having this fight with my mum as she keeps asking me to bring my daughter over Xmas Eve so she can hang her stocking and leave a carrot for the reindeer.. sorry?!?! Father Christmas only goes to one house!

Avatar

Santa visits our house only. Presents come once. Thats it. We are grateful for my in laws gifts but they tried to say stockings were from Santa after our daughter opened her stocking from Santa 🤦‍♀️ my husband firmly said "wow look what Grammy made you "lol

Avatar

Nope doesn’t make sense to me . Santa comes to whatever house the child sleeps in Xmas Eve to wake up to on Xmas day . Santa doesn’t drop gifts off at child’s home and both grandparents houses . I’d nip that one before your child’s confused .

Avatar

I just say santa gives the gifts family has given. If its friends it is from them but whether it is me or grandparents, santa gives them
