My son is just on the go 24/7, I really can’t take it much more. He won’t play alone so it’s constantly ‘Mummy play with me’ from 6am til 7pm. I’m starting to lose my temper with him because I just need a break! Single parent so can’t get Dad to play with him. Is it normal for a child this age not to be able to play alone or even watch a film for longer than 5 minutes?

This is signs of ADHD. I would get him checked before he starts pre-k because I was never diagnosed until I was nearly in high school and I struggled badly because I simply couldn’t focus. My parents were against medication but once I got some help, I was a completely different child! And my grades went from failing to straight A’s. Fast forward I graduated with honors and 3 scholarships. I take concerta, never been addicted to it and it’s super easy for me and most people to get on and off of it. I never took it during the summer. I was off it for my entire pregnancy and just started taking it again for college.

I have 5 boys and 2 daughters and alllll my kids are very active I am also they get it from me 🙃 I don’t like sitting still always have to keep moving I drive my friends and husband nuts lmao they are always like you make me tired just watching you, I do not have ADHD have been tested many many times I just have what I call them the (get up and gos) I play with my kids from the moment they wake up till they go to bed I’m up at 5am before all of them and start my day I can’t sleep longer then that I just need to get up and go! I think it’s a good thing but I absolutely understand how it can be draining (I tend to give ppl breaks from me because I know I’m a lot) I hope it gets better!!!

My LO is the same (he is on the pathway for asd) but would constantly ask us to play with him. What we found has worked really well is to actually remove 80% of his toys from the room and keep it clear. He has maybe 7-10 toys (or type of toys LEGO, duplo, transformers) everything has a home and now that the room isn’t so overwhelming he has started to play independently for 10-15 min stretches. I appreciate that isn’t a huge amount of time but long enough to sit and drink a coffee 😂
