I’m a FTM and due in 1 week and 5 days and I’m starting to feel a bit nervous. This might sound silly, but I’m genuinely worried I won’t actually know when I’ve gone into labour.
From what I’ve read, I don’t think I’ve had any proper signs yet. I had my midwife appointment today and baby girl is head down but not engaged yet. The midwife wasn’t worried at all, which is reassuring, but my brain is still overthinking everything 😅
One thing I have noticed is the pelvic pressure is insane when I first stand up and start walking it feels really heavy and uncomfortable at first, but once I’ve been walking a bit it does ease off. I don’t know if that’s just her sitting low, my body getting ready, or something else?
Did anyone else feel like this before labour? How did you know it was the real thing and not just Braxton Hicks or random aches and pains? I’d really love to hear your experiences, especially from other FTMs 🤍

Braxton Hicks contractions can be uncomfortable, however, they don’t follow a pattern or get more intense and you also will not dilate.
Real labour contractions cause you to dilate, they’re like clockwork so you know exactly when the next one is coming and they will get much more intense.
I was in prodromal labour for 2 weeks before having my LG and it sucked 😭 It’s false labour. Some of those contractions hurt like a MF 😆 And they’re different from BH as they are regular and they get more intense, they’re just have no effect on cervical changes.
Also just know that your water might not break. Sometimes it breaks right before baby is born, it’s not an issue, but if you think your waters may have gone, it’s warm and it doesn’t stop and it genuinely does feel like you’ve peed yourself 😭😆 If they break, please go to hospital, if you leave it there’s risk of infection.
You will know if you’re in labour xx

I went a week overdue. I had pelvic pressure from 36 weeks. I knew i had gone into labour when the pains were more than period type pain. I hadn't had any pain during pregnancy really and it kept coming in waves. I would get a contraction app and if you start getting waves of pain that you dont believe to be normal, track on there and it will tell you how far and regular they are

You just know when it’s the real thing 😮💨 it intensifies and when you can’t manage the pain yourself, you need to contact the hospital, if you’re having a hospital delivery. Good luck

I woke up at 39+6 and had a different kind of feeling under my bump and was going to the toilet a lot 💩. At first I thought it was belly ache but it was the regularity of the feeling that made me think it was labour. I had no signs the previous day and my waters didn’t break until 20 minutes before he was born so the pressure down below increased heavily during the day. I agree with Zoe and get the contraction app in case you do feel something and you can time it and see xx

In my experience there was no mistaking it, i didnt have any warm up contractions or cramps, straight into intense contractions i had to breathe through, couldnt have been anything else xx

Braxton Hicks are constant, no timing pattern. Real labour contractions have a timing pattern.
The way you're feeling with the pressure etc, sounds like she's really low down, so should be soon for her coming

I'm 35 weeks today and due my first and I genuinely keep panicking too that I won't know when I'm in labour too 😅😅😅
