1 year after potty training - regression?

I potty trained my son this time last year & he took to it so easily I was pleasantly surprised! But 1 year on we’ve been having phases where he is holding his wee in for so long that he isn’t making it to the toilet.

I had baby #2 in July this year & he had a week or so of these accidents which I put down to the change of becoming a big brother. When he went back to nursery after the summer hols he was doing the same thing & we were sent home with wet clothes daily.

That’s settled down but over the last week he’s doing it again. Possibly the Christmas excitement ??

I can tell when he really needs a wee because he gets fidgety & dances around. I ask & encourage him to go toilet but he’s getting so defensive and screaming at me ‘NOOO’! I think he’s so busy with his toys that he doesn’t want to stop even though I say he can get straight back to them after!

Anyone else been through this? Any tips? I’m getting a bit fed up of asking him loads, getting shouted at then having to clean a puddle of wee up 5 minutes later!!🥲

I had this with my little girl, when she started nursery she was having accidents every now and then. I think it’s where there having so much fun they don’t want to miss out on anything by going to the toilet. I kept reminding her that she has to go to the toilet then she can always go back and play. She hasn’t had any for a while now x
