Kids YouTube

It’s really hard to regulate videos even on kids YouTube. I would honestly say the only safe way is to be sat near when they’re accessing YouTube and if they’re not with you have them use Disney+ etc where you know what they’ll be seeing is safe
(I worked in a school where even with their safety software YouTube was really difficult to monitor)

continuously look up the things she's into, the suggested comes from what you look up but since it's a new account it's suggesting anything right now

For my son there’s a way where whatever he watches it has to come from the adult/main account. And I share it with him so that way ik exactly what he’s watching.

You can't have very much control over YouTube kids, it's pretty dangerous. There are constantly new videos that are made to look like they're made for children but with adult content or language. Its an algorithm that puts them on YouTube kids, rather than being vetted by a real person.

Have you got her account attached to yours? You can search loads of the stuff she likes and there’s a way to share from the main account to the kids ones which also helps with the recommendations

If you see something you don’t like, click the three dots next to the title and select “not interested” or “do not recommend channel”

You go onto the parental settings on YouTube kids but even if you block a channel, it will come back. The videos are only checked for like 20 seconds so the remaining of the video may not be child friendly.

You can lock it!

Our girl can only see 4 channels; the wiggles, Ben & Holly, Ms Rachel and Sesame Street.

It’s all through settings, you can lock it all down and keep it as minimal as possible, it also disables search functions so they cannot flick.

There’s a kids account for YouTube that you have to set up. Just do that. It blocks all that and lets them watch better kids stuff
